A friend of mine found "a small piece of black rock" in the ground in the Lost Lands.

Was this likely left over from mining? (Can you still mine up Blackrock?)

Is something up?

nope, it's older than that.

There were small pieces found all over. I think it was just after the pillars in the Ophidian lairs (2 facets) were destroyed? Those small pieces didn't decay, your friend must have found one that was missed when we were all searching for them.

I'm still finding these pieces, too. I've found one inside the Mage Shop in Britain, one near the Moonglow gates, a bunch out in the wilderness all over Felucca, etc etc. Quite surprising to discover they never decayed.

They do decay you can still mine them up.

I killed some guy the other day while he was script mining and go like 7 or 8 blackrock off of him.

Another guy I know tosses 10 or 15 a day on the ground outside his house after he does all his mining.

the blackrock from the ophidian place would just say " a piece of blackrock" the ones that can still be mined say " a small piece of blackrock" and are found all over the place depending on the shard, some people toss them away because carrying it on your person can blackrock infect things around you, some people carry it on purpose.

I went to the Lost Lands today to look for some of that unclaimed blackrock... didn't find any. However, I did run into several blackrock elementals just north of the Ophidian Lair, and noticed a new (?) rectangular slight depression south of Papua.

The bare ground is just outside of city limits through the gate on the south side, and about 25x47 paces in dimension. I don't remember seeing this before. Is this new?

I knew it! I figured there was something fishy about that whole "Blackrock elementals wont be a factor during your valentine's day mining activities"

Now i gotta go dig some up and once again watch out for the blackrock elementals again.

This group of BR ele's were there before Valentines Day. I'm not sure, but I don't think they ever went away.

p.s. Lag and BR ele's don't go well together!

Interesting. There were mining areas for digging it up many moons ago. Of course, given that a great big huge "blackrock detector" is being built in Moonglow, it would make sense that they would find some

*begins to wonder if we may have underestimated the complexity of the upcoming event*

These blackrock ele's also spawn black-colored *dang-mind went blank on what they are called* the jwilson type monsters, but these cast nasty ebolts.

Okay... what are these thingies called? You know, the ones that are in shame first level?

Do you just have to have gm mining to mine up this blackrock or do you need to get the book in the Gargoyle city that you have to read to mine up rock first?

thats the spot where we were all mining the large blackrock, the jwilson looking slimes i believe are called nether vortex's or toxic ooze, was during what was called the mother lode event, they never stopped spawning there...there are actually 2 dif places in the lost lands with the black crystal looking pyramids stickin out where this was happening....also all mining at the mother lode was turned off along time ago, cant get the large peices anymore..and at the time you didnt need to have any skill in mining to dig them up

They never stopped spawning? I really need to get out and about in the wilderness more often (not that there was really anything I could do to them)

You know whats odd, i went to that place before with my miner and while it was a dangerous spot, there were not any toxic ooze there. Well...The toxic ooze is back now. By the way, any tips for killing those things? Super Dragons maybe?

...OK super dragons do nothing to toxic oozes. I watched one take a super dragon down to 1/8 health and not even take a scratch.

I tried Natures Fury and EV's... the NF does lots of constant damage, but the toxic ooze had so many hit points that it's health bar never showed any red. I'd like a hit on how to take one down, too.
