Her father John Halloway murdered her mother, her sister, and almost nearly killed her in a fit of rage when she was just 9 years old. Grace Halloway had told her own father that she wished to divorce her husband, and when he found out, all hell broke loose. When neighbors called upon the RBG to come, they found a gruesome sight. John Halloway was pressing a wire across the neck of young Britney. Arriving just in time to save Britney, the RBG pulled him off and arrested him. Tragically, they had not arrived in time to save Grace or little Kerrigan.
John Halloway was tried and found guilty of murder in the 2nd degree for the deaths of his wife and young daughter as well as guilty of the attempted murder of Britney. He was sentenced to life in prison, in Yew, without the possibility of parole.
After healing from the physical wounds, Britney was sent off to the only known orphanage that had the room to care for her, Umbra's Orphanage. There she began a different type of healing.
