Better music system....

Well i've been play my instruments for a long time now... and it is always the same thing... do do dodo do do dododo do do dododo do do... or the failure tone... What i'm suggesting or asking for as it be, is a music system were you can play the tune or a tune of choice, kindof like in... Lord of the rings online... i think lol, or have a set list of tunes to be able to play from... so there is verity... well anyone else think this is a good idea???

Being able to "learn" tunes by "eating" music gears (or listening to a music box) could be pretty cool.

Except that I for one have had music disabled since I started however many years ago...

As it stands instruments trigger a sound effect, not a music track. Dunno how hard it would be to mess with.

Incedently, you do know about the music box, right? It's blessed and weighs jack, so really it does everything you're asking for, come to think of it. You just don't require musicianship to use it (semi-hard-to-get gears instead).

Would be nice, though, if people got a journal notice when you started to play something with it.

I have a music box,,, with 40/12/4 common uncommon rare...

But you don't get to play them and only you hear it :|

This kind of system i was thinking... or something like that. that way everyone gets a change to hear some music, and since most people play with sound off it wont bother many, and it will enhance alot of RP community

One thing that I suggested a few times over the past decade was to let Musicians form a group (party), each using different instruments, and be allowed to have the band leader select a tune to them play. More advanced songs would be available based on the average Musicianship skill.

I thought it would be cool to have a stage set up in each city with a tip jar that automatically got separated out to the group. Also playing on a stage would boost their skill gain.

But anyways... I'm sure the actual music system is pretty low on their list of priorities.

Which is why this would be nice, having real sounds that sound good when some people play...

I love the music system in LotRO.

There are actually individual musical notes in the UO media files (you can hear them with InsideUO) that could be used to at least play a riff. It's surprising the number of things in there that were never implemented (eg: different facial expressions for the 2D paperdoll).
