Best (read: EASIEST/fastest) way to build tactics?

I tried golems. Slow
I tried Ogre lords. Slow
I tried equipping a dagger (human JOAT) and attacking a golem, also a horse. No gains.

One friend apparently gained 115-120 Tactics in 45 minutes on a certain peerless, but then another tried it and got practically no gains at all.

Currently I'm 120 Archery/Anatomy, 104 tactics. Need to get to 120.

What's the best way?

You need some paragons if you want consistent gains. Best bet would be the succubus room at the back of Blood Dungeon.

Anything less casterish... casters eat me alive (I'm also training healing, and only using random items- unmaxxed resists)

Will Melee paragons like Cyclops, Ettin, Cu Sidhe, etc also give me the same gains as Para Succ? and possibly not blow me to kingdom come :)

It's possible Cyclops might work. At the level you're at with Tactics now it's going to take a high level creature to get any quick gains. It's worth a shot anyway. Another that would work would be Miasma if you can handle it. It's got a good level of Tactics for where you're at now.

Tsuki wolfes may work. They have no magic, sufficiently high tactics and are slow.

Yep, that would be a good one. I hadn't realized their tactics was as high as it is.

What do you mean by "dagger (human JOAT)"? Jack of all Trades isn't going to help you gain Tactics above 104.

You need your weapon skill to be pretty high, because I don't think you can gain in Tactics unless you hit your foe (I can't remember since it's been so long). What I am definitely sure of is you can't gain Tactics on a creature that you couldn't also gain weapon skill on, so attacking a horse isn't going to work at all and a Golem is going to be very slow (like 1 gain every hour).

Ogre Lords worked fine for me from 104 to 120. Get the fastest bow you can find. Make sure it has no DI on it, and also make sure it isn't an Ogre or Repond slayer. Remember: it's not about killing; it's about gaining skill.

im at 120 arch/anat, 107 tac now. I tried miasma, I was able to kite her around (my armor is lacking so I cant tank). but didnt really gain skill. I fared better with the tsuki wolves; I brought my tamer in and noticed most of them had either 99 or 105 tactics after loring 6. ended up gaining around a point in a half hour or 45 min. if you guys think of anything better that i can kite around let me know. thanks

Whirlwinding trogs with soulseeker. Every hit gets tactics check. 90-120 in couple oh hrs. They give you bandaids. Healing will be going up also. Bring healing pots. Easy and fast. No real swords skill needed I think.

Besides the 70 or 90 (don't know which for whirlwind) in the skill to do a special...

Cu's are good, go into the Weald and into the dead end in the rock circle and pick them off from across and you won't have to run from them because they are on the other side.

Correct. But that is so easy nowadays with soulstones. Unless you have no char with swords. Much faster tactcs gain than cu's due to multiple tactics checks with each swing against multiple mobs. Since spawn rate is so high, go stand in middle of cave, you will gain very nicely up to 120. Stay away from lurg and hope that there is not some butthole who thinks you need to be punished for scripting. That is probably the only thing to slow down your gains. Good luck.
