Best Animal Companion for Vine Gatherer???

Hail Sosarians and Tamers,

I was asked recently by a gatherer of vines, a Tamer by skill and title, what animal was best suited to walk the lands of the walking vines. I knew not the answer to this question, so I bring it here to those of you well schooled and well skilled in such matters. I am told these creatures are found mainly in the Blighted Grove and Twisted Weald.

What animal(s) do you folks recommend for use in these 2 areas???

I will carry back your answers to my young friend, with my sincere thanks,

An SoS

For the vines themselves, any old pet will do.

However, for the environment, you want a powerful pet or pet combination.

I hunt those areas with either a greater dragon (great defense), a cu sidhe (better offense, harder to keep alive if Coil happens along in the blighted grove) or a rune beetle/bake kitsune combination (best offense, great Coil-killer).

For preparing the areas for vine farming, you really need a confusion potion or six. Just lead the bigger threats away from where you want to farm (Coil to Abscess' area in the grove, the big fairies to the far south by the key-altar in the weald) and drop a confusion potion on them and run away. Repeat as needed. This lets you focus on what you want rather than what can kill you.

Between the two areas, I prefer hunting in the Blighted Grove since it's easier to move the tough monsters where you want them to go (and you can key Mel in the process with no trouble).
