Being Targetted while hidden?Bug or Legitimate?

This was the 2nd time this happened to me and I'm wondering if this is normal, a bug, hack or cheat.

Here are the facts to the best of my knowledge hopefully someone can tell me what the hell happened.

Here was the scenerio:
I'm on my thief character who has recently used a disguise kit just outside Yew Felucca where Guards are no longer present due to the "war of the shadows". My thief is factioned in Shadow Lords.

I attempt to steal from a Minax factioned player and fail and a chase ensues. I run around the building into the heartwood moongate where I hide for my life. I then stealth out of heartwood and once I am out of the gate I start taking arrows shots while I'm hidden. I took 2-3 arrow shots while hidden. I go back into heartwood and hide again and stealth out once again and again I take arrows shots while hidden and die.

What happened? Why am I absorbing arrow shots while my character is hidden and stealth? How am I being targeted?
Is this a Bug?
Is this a cheat/hack/exploit?
Is this thief/disguise kit related?
Is it faction related?


Thanks in advance for anyone who can explain or has an understanding of what occured.

Its just a random bug that happens sometimes with archers.

Try tabbing out so your not an aggressor anymore, it may fix your problem.

you are forgetting that using 'hide' skill automatically puts you in peace mode.

I know you can target people with snowballs while they are hidden if you use the last target macro. Maybe its working with arrows now.

This happend to me a few months back. I even got killed coz i just stood there wondering how the hell he could be targeting me while i was invisable but i still took 3-4 hits. Whats made matters worce was the character that killed me is part of a well known hacking Guild and i was convinced he was hacking but could never prove it.

When ML came, we tried the same with Spellweaving on guildmates in Felucca, and it was quite easy:
Target your target, let the target hide near you, cast wildfire and use UOA Last Target. Voila, nice field around the hidden player.

Never tried it with archers or other spells though, so I'm not sure this is the same thing...

There is no hack or anything that allows this, it's purely a very random bug that occurs sometimes.

Here is the bug listed on one of the cheat sites.

"With the new sticky lifebars implemented by EA, you can drag out the lifebar of a player in felucca, and when they hide it will go dark but not disappear. As an archer, you can stand close to them, and attack them while hidden by doubleclicking their lifebar in attack mode!"

It's about a year old, so no idea if that particular bug was the cause of the problem or if something else is going on.

you mean it might have to do with a program that someone wrote and is simply using the "scripting program" to run it.

the "scripting program" itself does nothing. people have to figure out the exploits and write the programs.

Running a scripting program on its own without a piece of code would be worthless, what would the point of that be? (insert Sarky answer here) But due to the rstrictions of these boards i condenced what i had to say into "Might have something to do with a scripting program that they all use"

Which didnt leave me open to breaking the TOS of these boards. Far be it for me to tell these fine-up-standing people how to hack or even how to start.

I know when I'm on a archer fighting Ninjas on the Tokuno Islands and they hit a smokebomb and start stealthing around I will continue to hit them eventhough I can't see them. It has been that way for at least a couple years now, and I wonder if somehow the same thing is happening to players stealthing around. I do notice that when I'm stealthing around, more monsters are now following me than in the past. Nothing like having GM hiding and stealth and have 2 greater dragons and a couple normal dragons following you around Destard while stealthed.

you never heard of attack last target ? it is a uo macro ,also auto defend does this too.

what i wonder is why we loose health,etc. when we go thru a gate or recall, player made or ingame.

I have had mages shot fireballs at me while hidden too.....

They would have casted it as you hit, or done meteor swarm that looks like a fireball.

I know about this bug I've seen it happen many times. As a stealther I can say this bug has been around awhile..... It's probably related to the same bug that has things like Acid Elementals follow you around like a puppy when your in stealth mode.... Very annoying.....

Were I to hazard a guess, I'd say it is probably because moving through a gate temporarily removes all your +X Strength and +Y Hit Point modifiers from armor. You immediately regain these bonuses, but since your HP total was reduced to its natural state, even for a split second, you don't regain those HPs that were granted by magical properties.

Whether this SHOULD happen or not is entirely up in the air, but I'm willing to bet that changing the coding for that would be hell, and is unlikely at best.
