Code is fixed. GM Beggars only will now have a chance at the small webs. It's not yet on TC1 so don't be surprised if you still get them at less than GM for the time being.

the only realy rare item of this year event will be come from the handfull of beggars
(begging is NOT a skill u can reach gm in 2 days)
what will it be next year? A ufo-wreck for gm Chef
should i be prepaired?

How many years now have we had Trick or Treat? I feel for you but there are some people, such as myself and my niece, that had the forethought since last year to work on our beggars and get them to GM just so they would have a better chance at getting something cool.

There are many of us that worked the skill for several months to GM it and sought a request that this be at GM level for we folks that worked dang hard to get GM level.

And yes I voted for GM level.

My Beggar is also my cook and I don't have a Necromancer. But is that going to stop me doing the thread quests, no I just help others get the threads or trade threads I get as those Fate ones are to get and I am pretty sure I can get enough to trade with folks.

I still remember how stoked someone was who got a Vorpal Blade.... after all that combat, finally! The uber rare item was bestowed on one of us!

I also remember a few weeks later seeing literal walls built out of Vorpal Blades in everyone's house... and seeing them discarded on the roads of Maginica like gum wrappers....

This was her call. But she is reacting to the many posters in the original thread who considered their GM beggars cheated by not being exclusive benefactors to this event.

Amen to that. Things like this will make people actually pursue other skills than the PvP and PvM stuff in the off chance that they might get an opportunity like this.

And no. I do not have a GM Beggar, and I am going to miss out on this spiffy item just like the rest of you.

Just because one is not a GM beggar doesn't mean you wont have a chance at getting one. Befriend a beggar or buying one is always an option.

Beggars don't all have spirit speaking or the ability to kill the event ghosts but you don't hear us causing a ruckus over an event that we have to make another character for do you?

ADAPT to the situation. This is something 1% of u.hall ever does. ADAPT instead of COMPLAIN.

Here is the solution... take the time and effort involved to create a GM beggar and trick or treat next year so you don't miss out again

Problem is not many people make a beggar because there is not alot of reward involved... once every year they have the chance to get a rare reward... players that took the time to make a GM beggar should get this once a year reward... *tosses in two cents*

Begging gave you a much higher chance at getting 1 of the rare ToT items that ended up selling for quite a large amount. In the past year I've seen more people working the Begging skill than in the 3 years prior to then for just this reason.

Yes just a chance everyone still got the rare items. I was only at 30 something begging and got many rare items. It might of took me longer, but I played for hours, days and still got about 15 of each.

Thank you for giving people who have actually WORKED at Gm Begging ( and I do mean work ) something. Though no one who has made a GM Beggar ever actually expected something special.

I made my Beggar long before they began giving out Trick or Treat items, and it was a long slowwwwww grind. But when I did finally make it GM I felt the same pleasure as long, long, ago when after a year I made it to GM Smithing.

You have a chance. You may not have the skill GM'd today but you still have time if you want the webs that badly. The devs have been very generous lately in allowing for plenty of time to fully learn about and enjoy all events. Last year's Halloween event lasted 3 months? So I'd say you have plenty of time to get it GM'd... I hope you have UO assist and follow the questionable guide to GMing posted on the Beggar forumn.

Else if your on Catskills PM me with a well written beg and I'll give you a set of webs if I have the spares. I'll extend this offer to anyone who reads this post that does not have a GM beggar....but is training the skill and wants some webs for themselves. Limited to only the best begging PMs, Must be on Catskills, and dependant on supply. But if you write a good one I'll go out of my way to get you a set.

I have a GM beggar and really don't care if the rewards were for a lower skill. I say this because The only advantage GMs have going into this will be the opportunity to make millions. And to me that kind of undermines the spirit of the skill.

but it's true - i have worked and worked and WORKED since last Halloween to get a GM Beggar for this Halloween. finally (after 3 total years of working the skill & an entire weekend spent in Heartwood this past weekend) i have a GM Beggar!!! and OMG it was a lot of work to get there. so i am glad GM Beggars have a special treat this year

ps - i was NOT one of the many people who dumped all their begging spoils in giant piles in Heartwood this past weekend - i found that irritating. when my backpack was full i went over to one of the many trash barrels in heartwood and dumped everything and then started over again. if you're going to spend the time to dump everything out of your pack, just put it in a barrel!!!

I feel for those who aren't GM, but honestly, even if you weren't around for last year's trick-or-treat event, ponderings and musings over this year's festivities have been all over the boards for months. There really has been time to make yourself a GM beggar if you really wanted to.

EACH year there were different items of interest besides the easy to get "candy".

So... when it was announced that GM beggars would get a special item I was glad for them. Foolishly thinking that as a non gm'r (84) I had a shot at other things. I could buy the Gm only item , maybe.

Trick or Treating this year for a NON GM will be just like last year. woo! Except for all the brand new players, it will be new for them.

I'm not GM yet and there is a good chance I won't make it in time, but I still say GM only. Why penalize beggars for my laxness in working this skill up sometime in the 9 years I have played.

I'll just buy mine off someone who put in the work ahead a time if I don't make it.

For a long time, I contemplated created a beggar character just for roleplaying purposes. Perhaps one of these days I'll do just that. Could be fun. And here would be the template.

100 Begging
100 Musicianship (people are more apt to give money if you can play an instrument)
100 Camping
100 Item Identification (for those odd items you pick up that you can sell - useless I know but fun)
50 tailoring (clothing does tear afterall)
50 cooking (beggars can't be choosers when it comes to food)
75 fishing (for when begging goes poorly)
75 spirit speak (because talking to ghosts makes you look insane)
50 Taste ID (hic!)

Oh... and to stay on topic: GM begging sounds fair for those poor homeless souls out there.

I started last week adding begging to my stealth herder chief. He is currently at 55. I'm guessing he wont have any chance at webs now, unless they keep Halloween until Christmas like last year.

Ah well. It's my fault I didn't work up begging. I had a year to do it. Still, webs have been highly sought after for YEARS by many people and this is a bit of a smack to them. I could see other items being GM level, but why something so desired that only a small number of people will get? I'm not going to even bother working my beggar further now as there is no way I'll get to 100, I would have gotten to 80 though. No webs for me cause I'm also not going to do the steps required to obtain the large web. I HATE. Even pixel ones.

ETA: I absolutely think GM beggars should get something special. Just not webs. It's been a very, very long time since they were given love. Hopefully this is just the beginning.

Yeah, it sound like a win win to me. Which is rare with this dev team to accomplish. Beggars get something totally unique in a game where they get very very little. And many of those seeking webs for all these years can now finally get them.

I'd rather have all items removed from begging and go back to just gold with what I am seeing with this trick or treat crap.

Nothing but players who don't like begging, the begging skill and who just want the latest easy (because lets face it people are scripting away a beggar as we speak) path to millions.

Begging is a cool niche profession, not a once a year item farm.

I guess that makes us even, D'Amavir. I think it's great GM Beggars are getting something. Yes it would be nice if they added the webs another way, but it's not a huge deal. I would have only used them once a year anyways. Plus other types of webs could be added later on.

Really? I started begging in 2006 myself, reason was during the first halloween, 2 yrs ago, I found a human was getting good things when they trick or treat, reason was the 20 points they have in all skills,[begging]. I just recently GM the skill, you can see over in the beggar forum about that.
