Been away for a while , is bagball blocking legal?

Been away for a year, and been doing Tram Despise for a couple weeks now. Yesterday in Tram Despise someone used six bagballs to block off andros and wisp in order to use poison fields and not be attacked. I thought this tactic was illegal and called him onit. Is it - or was I overreacting?

It was allowed ONLY while the invasion was in towns where normal fighting was hindered by town rules. It was to make up for being unable to cast fields and summons. It is NOT allowed anywhere else.

thats right, but so many players saw it being used openly (remember most players dont use stratics or would know that its only for invasions) that i can see it now as a very confusing issue. where once it was illegal, after the invasions its become a grey area again to casual players. like everything not 100percent legal, it comes down to if your paged on, and what the GMs decision is.

i wouldnt do it. i also wouldnt expect anything to happen to someone who was doing it.

As some of us remember (and we were hoping for a message from on high), Mesanna herself told us, but outside of the invasions, still illegal. They're of no use in the Blackthorn dungeon, as we've been told. I never bothered to test it myself, but captains are supposed to destroy them. Elsewhere, still highly illegal.

For those playing after the old old days, the greatest UO comic of all time, ImaNewbie, poked fun at the ability to trap monsters (way back when) with just flour sacks. Monsters didn't have pathfinding, so it wasn't hard to lure one into a house corner for training.

The easiest way to solve this controversy is to code monsters to walk through or dispel bagballs. Didn't I hear that blackthorn captains do walk through bagballs now?

I never tried it before. It seems they can trap the minions, but captains can make bagballs go poof from several tiles away.

And just to muddy the grey waters even more, It has been stated that the use of bag balls to fight over things like Harowers, is Legal, as long as you leave a path thru them. That is not technically "blocking" but try running that gauntlet on a warrior with mages dumping on you.

as long as their is a path through its always been fine. however random that path is. :)

From our esteemed leader back on October 25, 2013:
Ok so let's settle this discussion for good. Due to the fact this invasion is in towns such as Magincia and various other towns, the mobs might be a little tougher but the players were given the leeway of being creative to fight them in various ways.

PS Do not call a GM if you see a player using Bagballs on mobs in this invasion in towns. In dungeons is another story *winks*

It has also not been found illegal in faction town fighting/sigil guarding.
Yes, but that is pvp in Felucca. The question, and my answer, relate to pvm in Trammel.
In Felucca, against players, blocking tactics can be used provided there is a path through. Players are able to pathfind much better than mobs ;)

I had a guy in my guild who was the biggest cheater I ever came across. we pop a harry one night down in covetous. he had me make a few thousand candelabras which we hauled down on pack horses in bags. he cut the bags so there was a huge amount of candelabras on each tile. he than modded his client so he could move freely over them. the zerg guild of the day (not unknowing in the ways of cheating) all come down in force and get wiped out cause they were stuck.

you can imagine the rest, global chat explodes with cries of cheating and paging and everything. was very funny and no a gm never showed up.

bag balls are made to use as you see fit. just claim ignorance when the gm shows up.

not true in factions you are allowed to use them but you still must have a one tile path to get through .. unless they changed that as well what I was told years ago by a gm

Incorrect. Anything goes in the faction base.

Also incorrect. I seem to recall an instance where Mesanna was pestered endlessly until she showed up to move someone's house one tile over. This was just outside of a Faction base. Although not inside of a base, the offending part was hanging over the grounds of the base.

Again, anything goes inside the faction base. Of course common sense dictates that placing houses that are in the faction base are illegal. lol

Actually, your answer was wrong then because the question in the original post was not for Trammel or Felucca. Your answer may have related to Trammel, but it was not complete with regard to what was asked and could contribute to the confusion.

Maybe I read it wrong then. I saw

So I assumed that the question related to Trammel

Bag ball blocking is illegal in public (faction strongholds are not public) places when you block all tiles. As long as you leave a path open it is legal. /End Thread.

Just do what I do at idocs on a shard I shall not name...
Put 30 bagballs inside a box, drop the box..chop the box, and design it as a maze with one tile open..

It's always fun to watch people run they the stealther and get stam blocked and just stand there and die
