Bane vs Skara Brae

Since no one has mentioned it... I will. Bane has taken Skara Brae... From what I can tell, the rangers are honestly indiferrent about the whole ordeal. Though I have seen some citizens fighting the Bane, I notice that the seige is being conducted on the mainland! Neither the Meer, Ophis, nor the Brittanian defendars are conducting operations on the island. This is a weak strategy. What are they hoping to accomplish? Maybe they'll prevent the Bane from advancing to Shame Dungeon. OMG!

The defense against the bane has been pathetic. Everyone thought that the easy victories in the beginning meant that the Bane was easitly defeated. In fact, the people were easily decieved. Lord Bane now hold five (5) towns and villages and is about to make it six. This doesn't include Magincia. What's being done.... NOTHING!!!

Those of you who suppost Queen Dawn, ask yourself... Why are you doing it? The idol of the Avatar is impossilbe to achieve. In times gone past in worlds gone by, the Avatar compleed his quest and achieved, in the end, immortality. But in our world, the virtues are incomplete. We cannot even connect with the virtues of Spirituatlity (of all things), humiliy, nor honesty. This is unacceptable. Lord Bane brings a new, secular view to life. Accpet his teaching (though I more enlightenment on the subject) and become a less uptaight, more accepting member of our wonderful society.

Don't believe the propoganda... Lord Bane is not evil... He is setting us all free.

*Gypsy strums her lap harp... thinks of Lord British... sheds a tear*

On a wagon bound for market
There's a calf with a mournful eye
High above him there's a swallow
Winging swiftly through the sky

How the winds are laughing
They laugh with all their might
Laugh and laugh the whole day through
And half the summer's night

"Stop complaining", said the farmer
Who told you a calf to be
Why don't you have wings to fly with
Like the swallow so proud and free

How the winds are laughing
They laugh with all their might
Laugh and laugh the whole day through
And half the summer's night

Calves are easily bound and slaughtered
Never knowing the reason why
But whoever treasures freedom
Like the swallow has learned to fly

How the winds are laughing
They laugh with all their might
Laugh and laugh the whole day through
And half the summer's night

Queen Zhah has provided some enlightenment on the subject, revealing the truth about the one you fight for. He is a demon.

If, as you once declared, you would bend your knee to Lord British were he here, surely your heart and loyalty must turn now toward saving the land from the demon who would place all of us into perpetual servitude should he prevail.

You judge him because he is a demon. Are demons not given a chance? What has he done that is evil? I see the towns and cities under Bane's control thriving. He does not harm the people, though I often see lone adventurers confronting his guards... I do not understand.

In an age past, Bane struck down Magincia for their pride. Was this an evil deed? Perhaps, perhaps not. I wonder if Lord British might have called on Virtue Bane to destroy the pride-ful city so many years ago. Mayhap Katrina could give some insight to this.

I am not a supporter of evil. I am, currently, a supporter of Lord Bane. If his actions and deeds violate my senses of propriety, I can easily alter my course. However, Queen Dawn, in my opinion, has no idea how to rule and is completely ignorant about the virtues which she portends to uphold. If only there were a hero... someone to guide us citizens. I have heard rumors of a legend long ago. They called him the Avatar. If it were possible to complete the Quest of the Avatar and provide the land once again with a spiritual leader... maybe then we would not be so disheartened.

I feel empty, I have for so long. I meditate at our shrines, but they do not fullfil me like they used to. I visit the Shrine of Honor often. While I do not practice the magic arts of a paladin, I feel akin to the virtue of Honor. I always engage in honorable combat. It's just my way. I do wish the return of Lord British. He I could follow. He was an inspiration.

Perhaps maybe I just sit here in this tavern and indulge myself. Do you have a good tavern in Serps Hold Gypsy? I don't think that I've drank there before. Maybe I will go forth and check it out... :pint:

I share your pain and understand the feeling of emptiness which you have described, as well as the wavering uncertainty. As for giving demons a chance, all I can say is that I've lived a long time, and have learned that certain old sayings, however trite on the surface, are often true, such as "wolves in sheep's clothing"... "beware of Greeks bearing gifts"...

*pauses... reminds self to research what "Greeks" are*

Do you really believe that the most clever of demons use force alone to conquer? Nay... they are crafty beings who offer what may appear to be lovely rewards to those who agree to follow them. However, demons are masters of illusion. Upon perceiving a great spider's web glistening with dew in the sun's first light, one may imagine they have just witnessed something quite beautiful... but in the end they may find themselves entrapped in a deadly web of deception from which there is no escape.

Perhaps when you next come to Serpent's Hold, we can continue the conversation. Considering the subject, I would prefer not to meet in a public tavern. Spies may lurk anywhere these days. One day we should meet, though. My little house is, I believe, the only private home on the island, just downwind from the stables (I usually keep the windows closed). Tis a humble place, but clean, and there is always good food and ale available to friends and visitors. Do not look for my name on the house sign... I have deeded it to my dear friend, Lulu, who is a fine chef, by the way.
