Guardians Gate is a thorn in the side of Lord Bane. How can the Bane effectively secure Britain (of course an obvious goal) without first neutralizing Guardians Gate? That task I do not believe would be easy... I am not sure it is possible. While many citizens did not remark on the takings of distant provinces in the east, they will all surely fight when their home is invaded. How many knights live in Guardians Gate? I do not know, but Bane will need 2 or 3 Chosen Riders and Guards per knight. AT LEAST! What happens when all the knights rally behind the call to arms...
Lord Bane has made some stunning victories in the east. The economy is certainly disrupted, but definitely not collapsed. When I was discussing strategy with my comrades yesterday, we overlooked Guardians Gate and its strategic importance. I wonder... Even if the Bane somehow secures Britain, can they hold it? Will it be more effort than it is worth?
Lastly, I have seen the Royal Guard advertising and recruiting. I have read in the news and heard in the taverns tales of mass recruitment. But yet, as I firmly stand to my beliefs that the Ophidians and, to some degree, the dirty Meer, are plagues in our land and any alliance with them is worse than anything that Bane brings, I don't see the Royal Guards coming to protect their citizens. Is this because the government does not like the Ophidians and Meer either? Perhaps there is a power play involved. I do not know. What I do know is that the Royal Guards have a powerful force, oath bound to obey, and they do nothing.
