Back from a break, what's up with people dropping parry?

I have a mostly typical Sampire template with bush, chiv, parry, necro.

MACE FIGHTING 120
PARRY 120
BUSHIDO 100
ANAT 100
NECRO 100
TACTICS 100
CHIV 80

Dropping parry don't you get beat on much more? I thought the number one rule was to not get hit?

It still is, but parry's actually not that effective at doing that.

equal weapon skill with your opponent= get hit 50% of the time
toss in 45 DCI and it's 50*0.55= 27.5% of the time
with 120 parry a 35% block rate is 27.5*0.65= 17.875% chance to get hit.

and if you include HLA it's less, not including spells/breath attacks.

So, more a question of... do you have somewhere else you can spend the skill points better?

Also when figthing boss mobs, & heavy hitters people use the Feint Special. It cuts incoming damge by 50%. & if your using a Swampy with Execeptional armor you can reduce the damage by another 20%.

Are our weapons skills even with high level MOBs? I thought they had an uber high amount of wrestling? What happens then?

Edit: Also now I'm thinking instead of sacrificing other skills I'll sacrifice parry points to make my 720 limit, some parry is better than no parry.

Bosses sometimes have higher. Greater Dragons can have about 130 i think. The rest are usually GMish at best.

I use skill jewelry to get all the skills I need, so I don't drop parry. Still have it at 120. After items.

On that note thought you have to have less "other" benificial things, it seems to be down to personal preferences and what works for you really.

Some people dont like using skills on jewelry and having other mods, were as some preffer skills.

Would be good if someone (Miner/Conner) could post all the differences between stats and skill ;)
I think though it still levels out when it comes to damage and survivability.

Connor is on strike from Stratics.:redx::bs::grrr::postcount:
It has seemed like for a long time both you & Lynk have been Unoffical Mods of the Warrior forum.

What question do we have out of Connor Mailbag today :scholar:
