Back after a long while out

I have played on and off for about 17 years. Mainly on great lakes and I just took a year (possibly longer) out due to ill health. As I didn't really choose to takes break and ended up losing my house on GL I though need a bit of a new focus. Made a character on siege many years ago and never played it. Figure it may be time to try again

I have a couple questions though...

Can I use crowns to buy a mythic token?

Can I have a house on siege and production shard?

Finally would a sampire be a viable character choice? I plan on mainly pvm.
Failing that was thinking a necro thrower perhaps?

What you guys think?

Can I use crowns to buy a mythic token?

-yes toon must have 200 points or less skills - so soul stone any above that or delete them or make new toon (save any bank stuff with a friend)

Can I have a house on siege and production shard?

- yes I have a castle on Origin and a castle on Siege no problem

Finally would a sampire be a viable character choice? I plan on mainly pvm.

In my opinion a sampire is still one of the most powerful pvm builds around.

Failing that was thinking a necro thrower perhaps?

never played one so i can not help.

I am also coming back. Tiptoeing back into SP after a long absence. Sampires rock PVM. Or they did up until a couple years ago.

I want to point out one issue with sampires. But first, welcome back to the both of you.
Anywho, sampires are very good at PvM, but they are also one of the most gear dependent builds out there if you are fully optimizing the setup. Crimmy or Obi, reforged and enhanced imbued elemental weapons, boots of escaping, etc. are all integral to that swinging at max speed and leeching max life attack.

On Siege some of those pieces are hard to come by, our even harder to replace. It can be done, I know plenty of folks who run sampires on Siege, but just know that the first few iterations of your suit probably won't be high end.
My sampire build is based around a core of a crimmy (my siege bless), an ancient samurai helm, and royal leggings. You can get loot pieces better than both, but I like having those pieces consistent so that if I bite it and lose a suit I'm only searching to replace the other pieces (both of those are cheap and easy to come by).

Part of the fun of Siege is working within the shard constraints to build suits our effective skill combinations.

Good luck!

I play a sampire and yes it is still one if not the most powerful PvM template. That being said it's a lot more work than for example most tamers are putting in (you need to constantly press buttons, keep your buffs/debuffs in check etc etc) and it involves a little more risk because you can't fit stealth on it or other means of escaping raids easily.

Only the absolute high end content requires expensive suits and also only when you go there solo (shadow guard for example).

Everything else, especially spawns (your money maker no.1) can be done with dirt cheap suits. For example when I do despise I bless an imbued bladed staff, carry an extra double axe for killing the spawn, neither of them have a slayer on them. I use a vermin slayer talisman and a barbed studded suit that gives me all 70s, 177 stam, 66 mana, 140 hp and 50-55% lmc depending on how good my headpiece is. the suit is built around a monster loot head piece with lots of extra resists (especially fire with more than 23). the jewellery and swords mastery only give me 31 hci, 31 dci but that is all you need for this spawn. for the champ I keep up divine fury, counter attack, EoO, consecrate weapon and chop away with my bladed staff. I rarely die and when I do it's usually because I lagged out. No fancy items needed and you'll make tons of gold, mastery primers and powerscrolls. Even if you get raided and looted you don't really loose much. just have a replacement suit ready and get back at it. The gold you make will easily outweigh the losses by raids.

One thing I suggest for everyone on Siege though: get a soulstone with 120 imbuing so you can imbue your own suits and weapons.

are you suggesting they try to do one of Bo's spawns? You should be telling them they need all this awesome gear, so it gives the bo something to loot.

Thanks for the input, yeah was thinking that rats for example could be done with basic gear... So I would perhaps start with a mythic token ... Does that give me 7 skills at 90 points and near enough max stats? Imbuing could be worked after and I guess I could just start by waring looted pieces untill I am trained up. Should bank some gold that way too and get a house going.

P.s would swords, bush, tact, parry, chiv, necro be the way to go? I don't usually bother with resist on sampire.. and ss can be useful but not as much as party in my experience.

mythic token will give you 5 skills at 90. I REALLY suggest you make imbuing one of those skills because it is a pain to train up and from that level on it can easily be brought to 120 by simply unraveling lesser artifacts level loot. forget using looted gear as a dexxer - you will never get all the stats you really need (items with stamina increase and lower mana cost on one item are absolutely rare to find as loot). Imbuing will let you have exactly what you need without relying on rng

As for stats, you will probably need to save up some gold to buy the +25 harrower / +5 exodus scrolls for your toon. Again, you can do without this but 30 stat points on a sampire means a noticeable difference between dying and almost dying.

I would also suggest you practice being a sampire by working some of the Stygian Abyss minichamps. You will build up a pile of imbue essences, and learn the ins and outs with at least a smaller risk factor / chance of raid.

Lastly, if you intend to do undead spawns, you are going to want resist spells.

There are several different setups skillwise, but the core is weapon skill / bushido / necro and the rest varies by build. 100 necro is sufficient, I'd you intend to use two handed double axes parry and bushido are nice. Chivalry ranges between 60 and 120, again, build dependent. Try going through the stratics warrior forum for build info.

Cool, food for thought, guess if I was training imbue by unraveling I would store up ingredients too... Yeah I just play around. Will start with imbue, swords, chiv, necro, Bushido as the mythic skills and decide rest from there :)

Forgot to ask... Should I also include tailoring in the mythic skills so I can make the studded leather myself too or are there plenty tailor vendors about?

to be effective, you would need arms lore as well. there are plenty of tailors about usually

Are you going to start with a fresh character or use an old character that already has some skills?

If you have a old character that already has some skills or has eaten some power scrolls my advice would be different.

So which do ya have?

Also as Silent has mentioned stats matter and the mythic token will set your stats so this must also be decided a head of time.

A recent player coming to siege that i helped bought 12 soulstones and 2 mythic tokens.
On a fresh character he used a mythic token, raised these 5 skills (plus his two 50 point starting skills) for a week, stored all skills on soulstones. He secured these in his new siege house, cleaned out his bank, deleted his character.
He started a new character with 2 new different 50 point skills and used a mythic to get 5 additional 90 point skills.
When he started training he had 10 - 90 point skills and 4 - 50 point skills.

Training skills from 90 up is a lot easier on siege using masteries.

Since there are no trainers on Siege, 4 skills at 50 is also a nice start.

I only have around 4000 crowns to go at so will probably just be a single fresh character and work from there and buy a couple soulstones for swapping out imbue then build up from there through hunting.
