Howdy!
I had a 3 months break. I played free-to-play Star Trek Online. Honestly, it is a pretty game and I loved the Star Trek feeling. But - typically for this type of games - you have to level up to 50 (and then things get boring) and the economy is crap (3 currencies, best items only available with real money). Think I will play it every now and then for the "space, the final frontier"-feeling. But it didn´t touch my heart.
UO, however, touched it more than a decade ago - and I will never stop loving it. So, the "3-months-try-another-game-break" is over and I have some quesions...
(1) There have been complaints about a change in the vet reward system. What exactly did they change? I browsed this board, but I can only find the complaints - but not the changes :loser:
(2) Honestly, is it necessary to to change your armor/suits after the recent changes in crafting - or are you still playing with your imbued/reforged stuff (as I do)? (I do only PVM, so no PVP-information necessary)
(3) Have the recent changes in game mechanics affected your PVM anyhow? I tried some bosses in the last weeks (Navrey, Osiredon) and it felt like always (so, no difference).
Ah, and finally, my 2 cents on the negativism and sadness I can read out of this forum: I think, that there is still no better game when it comes to freedom. Housing in UO is still fantastic. Compared to other games, economy is not as bad as many of us think. There are still many challenges out there - in other games, you sometimes feel like there is nothing exciting left... Crafting is still awesome. I could continue...
In my short break I learned that it is not the gold and the items you have, which makes this game so addicting - it is our emotional bond to it, this feeling of "coming home" when entering this world. And this will never change, regardless of revamps, changes, updates (positive or negative) or whatever. I would even stay here if they would decide to change nothing from now on to the next 15 years...
Thanks for your replies & best wishes!
