Lately there has been alot of concern, and by alot I mean an excessive amount of concern about duping.

It's very real, and its occured in the past, and may be occuring currently, but this is something we're all aware of and in addition know how it may affect ourselves and many items in the game, but do we have to read about it and discuss it every day?

I've been coming to this forum for well over a year now since I joined stratics, and I did so specifically b/c of my interest in rares and discussing them, trading them, etc, but more often than not I have no interest any longer in reading the garbage that many people are posting in this forum b/c its become nothing but rants, raves, fights, complaining, finger pointing and every other thread is about duping this, duping that.

Can we all just focus on the purpose of this forum, and take the garbage else where, and give the duping threads a rest?

There's a thread warning about duped items already, so I don't really see the need to discuss it to the extent and frequency to which it has been occuring!

I miss the enjoyment I used to get from reading posts in this forum.

Agreed. Everyone is aware of the duping stories that plague this forum (genuine or frabricated). Continuously talking about the issue on this forum will do absolutely nothing but get in the way of those who truly wish to learn about rares. Does duping happen? yes. There is a post which goes into great detail. Does duping happen as much as everyone thinks? No. 30 vine cords drop on the ground and all of the sudden people are making claims that 1000's exist in game. Such tremendous conclusions should not be made without factual evidence. Posts regarding duping do nothing to benefit the true heart of this forum.

Definitely Agreed, it really gets sickening reading all of the whining ppl post day in and day out about whats been duped, whats not been duped, why duped items are worth so much, etc etc.

its HIGHLY annoying and would be greatly appreciated if something could be done about it.....its ruining alot of sales....the sticky up top isnt helping much either IMO

agreed 100%, its so boring reading about dupes over and over, most of the rares in the game have been duped and you can't tell the difference so enough about it already, fact of the matter is if this didnt happen anyway, most rares would be going for crazy high prices that a lot of people couldnt afford... just accept the rares that exist and count them as rares not dupes, enough about duping!

I AGREE!!! I may be fairly new to this thread, but already I am sick of hearing about duping this and duping that..... If we choose to buy something, we know right off the bat the possibility that it MAY be duped, so stop trying to point it out!

The point of this forum is not only to facilitate sales but also to inform readers about what is rare and what is not. So the sticky is going to stay. I would suggest people not to invest their funds in buying dozens of duped items for reselling instead.

Regarding being sick of all the crap, no one has more right to complain about it than me

I agree with this, but I also think it is a good idea to keep people aware of dupes and what has potentially been duped. Whether we like it or not, it does influence people's final decision in purchasing and trading in certain items. I know it has affected mine. Either way, as long as that sticky stays, that's enough for me.

The biggest thing that I find hilarious is the fact that most people knowingly deal in duped goods when trying to make posts about why they dont want them.. I never understood Ethical behavior in video games regarding pixels..

The other fact that is absolutely mind blowing is how some people can not figure out how the rares market works for people..

IE. Player is offered Item (Possibly dUped who knows) for 1 million.. He lists it for sale at 2 million and keeps the profit.. "Magically by listing items your automatically a duper and a culprit of such, You arent just an extremely resourceful person who can find anything in game through the thousands of contacts"

I totally agree with the dupe list, make it known.. The people who know the game and understand how it works will continue dealing in items they know have shady history as they have always done in order to complete there Pixel fetish and those that dont will continue to whine and bicker about something they can not change or modify ..

Whilst I agree in general with your plea I also tend to think there is a case for just not reading the posts. It is a bit like pointing out to people who complain about TV programmes that their TV is equipped with an off button and a channel change, if they dont like the prog for God's sake why watch it?. Same with these posts if you dont like them don't read them.

While I do think cheating should be discussed, I don't think the rares forum is the place. U.Hall/SnR should be more fitting.
We have the duped item list and that should be it.

Every topic posted seems to end up in endless discussions about nothing nowadays.

keeping the word out does a lot of good
afterall most of these items arent even rare since theyve been duped to hell and back
you might not want to see the posts anymore but i certainly dont want to see the dupes anymore, im not going to turn my back on a problem, rather face it head on.

Cysphruo, I respect that you dont care for duped items, thats fine, thats your opinion and a completely valid and justifiable one, but you are missing the point of this post.

My point is not to ignore or hide that items are duped, but to limit the number of posts regarding them b/c the vast majority which are made are based on assumptions and guesses without any factual basis and do nothing but incite bickering and arguments.

There is already a post discussing duped items that has been "stickied" in this forum, and the moderators have full ability to edit it and make additions when they feel its necessary, and that should be enough to help warn those individuals who may not be aware of the problem or what items it has possibily or definitley has affected.

No one is asking you to turn your back on anything. But you must consider that duping will always be a problem in UO. There are other forums that consistantly talking about the duping problems will do more good than on a Rares Forum. There is also a Dupe Thread stickied at the beginning of this forum also. Most of us collectors know what has been duped and so do alot of people interested in buying them. We all read other posts here on Stratics, so it would be easy to find out what has been duped and what hasnt. I respect your feelings on this matter, but the rares forum isnt the place to consistantly talk about it.

I just wish others further up in the company echoed your feelings.

Amen Brother!!!!! Enough already. if its a new dupe shout it out. but if its digging up old news leave it alone. I like DVI came here to browse the rares of others and learn about other collectors. Not read everyday about "hey did you know that that was duped heavily". I mean if you read one post out of 30 there is always one person who brings it up.
Thats my rant now lets get on with the show
