Armour comparisons

Is it just me or has anyone noticed that Leather armour gives better base resists than platemail. also Barbed grants better resists than valorite. essentially making Platemail inferior to leather... which just is not right..

I am after a justification for this.
The reasons i bring this up is

leather has a much lower str req
Leather is medible
Leather is stealthable
and in most MMO's Leather is considered inferior to plate for raw protection

Granted Plate does have a good durability.

Yep. There's absolutely no point to metal armor since leather is superior in every possible way. But stay tuned, I'ma write up a thread now since I'm bored and need a break from map fragment hunting with a bunch of rants and ideas regarding all things warrior-related.

Except that Exc. Samurai armor crafted with a Val runic hammer is better than that crafted with a Bkit.

i just post in another thread about smiths being worthless for armor the only thing they got going is some weapon recipes even doing repairs for people was taken away now you find repair deeds laying on the ground its sad if you ask me my smith is almost 120 and only reason I have not stoned it is i want to get to 120 before i do and I have not really worked smithing in a long time just not alot of point to it I still collect bods just to make him usfull for something

[edit] The gist of it, regarding armor, was to raise the base total resits of metal armor as follow: 16 studded leather, 18 ringmail, 19 chainmail, 21 platemail. Also give ring/chain/plate self repair 1 defaultly to represent their ability to generally stand up longer than leather, and also an overal damage reduction vs. melee damage and bow/xbow damage for wearing all metal. Also lower the strength requirements for some of the metal armor, like platemail. Oh well, I'll write everything out again some day.
