I have been trying to complete several armor sets I have collected, and I was wondering if there is any monster's other than swoops that dropped them. I'm talking about named monsters would be a better way to "harvest" set items.

No idea on Luck.

Each set has some pieces that are considered rare. These drop only from Peerlesses, Champions, Doom Gauntlet monsters, and certain event "specials," such as ethereal-form Shadowlords.

Each set also has some pieces that are considered more common. Those spawn on the "named monsters" in the ML dungeon. Such as Miasma, Swoop, and Coil.

Most people like Miasma to farm the "common" set pieces.

There's also two weapon Item Sets. In those Sets, both pieces are considered rare and spawn only on Peerlesses, Champs, Doom Gauntlet monsters, and certain "specials."

IIRC, swoop and miasma had their drop rates reduced for marties. From experience, swoop seems to have been hit harder than miasma.

It seems to have affected their drop rate on armour sets too.

Haven't gotten any from Lurg or the named ettin in sanctuary either.

So I'd recommend going after other named mobs instead.

Do the pieces still have a chance to drop on champs? Solo'd many a champ with full looting rights, easily over (100+) switch to luck suit just before it drops too, not been lucky enough though

Yes, i got the feathernock of a barracoon not long ago.

Also, what galen says may appear to be right...but i have got assassin legs of of miasma(the rare piece) so im not sure its 100%accurate.

Yes, luck does increase the drop rate of set pieces and other artifacts. But increasing luck has diminishing returns to the drop bonus. (Question was answered a long time ago, just forgot which developer answered that.)

It's actually only the Dark Father in Doom that has a chance to drop the set pieces. His loot pack was the only one that was changed.

I can confirm that the event "specials" do indeed drop the rare items, as I got a CC from Melissa and 2 Assassin legs from Shadowlords.

Each 5pc & 6pc has 2 rares and each 4pc set has 2 rares. I had 4 of the 5 necro pcs and an Ally got the rare 5th pc in a Baracoon corpse! Bless her soul, she gave it to me and would not accept anything in return (Thank you Kit!).

I was surprised that Champs dropped armor sets - much less the rare pcs! I stick around now until corpse decays and "comb" through the champ corpse leftovers, just as I do with Doom Bosses/DF's.

SHHHHH! That is supposed to be a secret! I love it when the other players rush off in search of the next boss and don't even bother to loot. heh

yes I can confirm I got the Bow in the feathernock set off a Melissa (special event), 2 crimson's off those nasty Crimson Draggies that spawns during the latest invasion, hunter's garb pants off one of the named mobs in bedlam, the elven leafware set pieces off the Darkfather, Grizzle pieces off Griz (of course), assassin pieces off Miasma.

I've been trying to complete my hunter's garb set for a while. Has anyone had any luck getting the Chest Piece for Hunter's Garb.. and if so.. where did you find it?

The named spiders at Dread Horn area also drop armor sets...

I love when a high Luck tamer is in on the kill, they usually grab the gold and leave the armor set pcs behind for scavengers like myself

I have a Hunters chest piece too...I am just missing the arms.

Hunters: Arms
Plate of Honor: Helmet and Legs
Death Essence: Skull Helm
Myrmadon: Tunic (had it...sold it...too big of an offer)
Leafweave: Complete
Assassins: Complete
Grizzle: Complete
Greymist: Complete
