Are Pack animals carrying less?

I took my pack llama out and it only could carry 760 stones. I thought pack animals could carry 1600 stone. Am I remembering wrong or pack aminals became weaker.

Does it have 125 items on it? even if it's less than the max weight it can only take a maximum of 125 items.
