Archery template for pirate quests?

I have been trying without any success to do the pirate quests solo. I have tried using both a pure bard, bard/mage, and a chiv/mage using SC/Mage bow.

The orc crew is no problem, they drop fairly quickly, however the pirate I just can't get any damage on him fast enough to drop him. I was thinking about trying a Bush/Archer with chiv but would like some feedback before I go and screw with another template.

Has anyone done these quests solo? What template did you use? Maybe I'm just doing something wrong with the templates I did try. Any suggestions from anyone that has completed them would be great.

If an archer wont work, any ideas what to try, IF you can even solo them which I am beginning to think you can't.

Been awhile but I used to solo them with an ABC archer. Trick is to hit them with your cannons from behind. and stay behind them. And if you are killing a blue ship dont fire your cannons until everyone is dead. Armour Ignore, Armour Ignore, Armour Ignore. You might miss out on some of the loot from the orcs because they will decay before you can safely board.

Did I mention how helpful Armour Ignore is?

What does the ABC Archer consist of nowdays? Years ago, and before the changes to chiv, it use to be:

120 Archery
120 Tact
120 Anat
100 Heal
100 Bush
100 Resist/Med (depending on what you were fighting)
70 Chiv

Now with the changes done to chiv, how much has this template changed, or will this still work with only 70 base chiv?

That is about what I had. Maybe squeeze some more points into chivalry due to the new changes
