Arcane Circle Question

Sorry if this has been answered somewhere - I did a quick search of the board and didn't spot it.

I know that you can stone off spellweaving so you can get a circle of 0 skilled players together for an Arcane Circle - and then you go and put your SW back on before hunting, etc.

I know that the more players in the circle, the longer the focus lasts and the more it "increases spell effectiveness."

My question: Is that "spell effectiveness" increased more if the players in the circle have a higher level of SW? Or is it the same whether the players are all 0 level SW or all 120 level SW?

That's all. Thx!

Perfect! Thank you for the quick answer.

I guessed that would be the answer, because otherwise, I would think folks wouldn't bother with it. But hey, you never know what folks will do in a game.

Hi Storm,

Your answer here still leaves me with a couple of questions. The Spellweaving FAQ (Sticky) says:
A focus is created that powers your spells, and the more arcanists (up to 4) that stand in there also can help you make a more powerful focus to make your arcane spells more powerful.
So my questions are:

1) In your quote above, you mention a "6". What do you mean by that?

2) The FAQ says that having multiple arcanists in the circle makes a more "powerful" focus and that makes arcane spells more powerful. Does it follow that the "higher" the arcanists are in Spellweaving - the more powerful the focus will be?

I'm very interested in this because I'm trying to decide if it's "worth" it to have my Spellweavers go beyond GM.

1 you can have 5 arcanists form a circle plus get a bounus for using the circle at britain so 6 is max level

2 the more arcanist the higher your power level the only caveat to this is they need to be within 20 (i think its 20) up or down from the one casting

example you are 100 weaving and have a person with you who has 120 and another who has 40 you will get one point from the 120 person because he is within 20 from you but get 0 from the person with 40 because he is to low and if you are in britains circle you get a bonus of 1 from that circle so end up with a 3 circle etc

now the length of time it lasts goes by the one casting so you are better off having the person with 120 cast it

What i have been hearing in chat is as a non weaver, me, I can join a non skilled focus and get a stone(6). Now with this stone in MY pack as a non weaver(not stoning it back on)

Do I get any benefit other then helping out the players in my group?

And yea if ya ask Ill go stand on the circle with ya either way. I just didn't really have the chance to check numbers since it was a champ spawn we went to.

If you haven't done the quest, then all you've done is helped them get a level 6 focus. A human char that has done the spellweaving quest and has the spells in the book, there are a couple spells that can come in pretty handy that require 0 to 10 skill level (Gift of Renewal, Attunement, Immolating weapon (I've never used this spell but I think someone has (once), Thunderstorm, and Nature's Fury can all be casted using just the human joat).
