Anyone try a G13?

Well saw the thread with the G11 and G15 used for macros. Im wondering if anyone has tried the G13? I was thinking of getting a G11, its about $90 here. Then I was in there and saw next to it a G13. Which is a mini keyboard on the side with 22 G buttons. Now there is a joystick and 2 more buttons on the bottom where your thumb would be. Wondering if those could funtion as alt/cntrl. Thus giving you 66 macros without doing anything crazy.

And if I got that when I do play on laptop, i wouldnt be short keys, it has onboard memory for macros, (if you use thier software). Just wondering if UO would recognize it etc.

if the 22 button pad has a usb and not hard wired in the keyboard it would be an awesome add on for a laptop....

The G-13 is a USB device and works great with or without the G-11, G-15, or the new G-19. As I understand it - the macro's are saved in the software for the device so you will have to either copy the "profile" to your laptop - or reprogram the macros for use there.

I've only had mine a few weeks or so - but I do love it so far.

List price was $79... found on sale right at Fry's on Christmas Eve for $49... with an additional $20 rebate. I could not pass up $29 for the G-13.

Feel free to PM me if you have any specific questions.

Yeah its USB, it shows it next to a G11 in the review pics. I just wanna make sure I can use the two thumb buttons as control, shift, or alt.

read my post on how to lay your hand on the g15 to have easily 80 macros avaible without moving your hand.

to be more precisely, i set it up like that:

G1 - G10 = F1 - F10
G11 - G13 = ALT + F1 - ALT + F3
G14 - G18 = ALT + F6 - ALT + F10

the jump in there is because ctrl alt f4 and f5 being macros for setting my display profiles (yes, alt f4 is not a problem as long as you set it up as an ingame uo macro, window wont close once its set, will close however while none is set)

now i set myself up like that. thumb of left hand on ctrl and shift. after a while you can press your thumb down to either hit ctrl, shift or ctrl & shift and still be able to use the rest of your hand to access any g key as well as the numbers 1-4, the button left of the 1-key, q,w,e, a and s without moving your thumb. and that right there is a possibility to have 112 macros. on some hybridtemplates, i actually managed to have all of them set up to do something. takes a while to get used to having that many macros, but specially when organising them as in ctrl for offense, shift for defense, shift&ctrl for alternate, g1-g6 for weaponrelated, g7-g12 for castingrelated (sometimes more keys required), g13-g18 on objectrelated things, its quite easy to learn, remember and use.

enjoy...

Yeah, I know its doable. The g13 is a seperate keyboard via USB. Since there are 22 keys, it wouldnt be hard to hit a good number of keys. It fits the hand pretty good (was in bestbuy today). I think ill pick it up. My desktop is coming sometime with a G11. But this is a nice add-on for laptop, and if I get a good feel for it, could use it instead of G11 buttons. But meh, we will see.

I think ill use a lot of macros. Since every template needs a different set of macros. From Scribe mage, to necro mage, scribe+necro mage, parry mage, ninja mage, pure mage, let alone 2 accounts and a dexer in there.

*edit*
Looking into it more there are 3 profiles you can change on the fly, so thats 75 macros. Now if you can use program to make thumbs cntrl, and alt etc, thats a lot of macros, LCD, and USB. hmm

Well I play a mage and I probably have more macros then most do. And I dominate on my standard keyboard. I really don't see why anyone needs more keys to be honest. And usually it's dexers using the fancy keyboard and I doubt they have half the macros that I do.

Define dominate?
Dominate = Kill 99% of the shard everytime in a 1v1.

BTW GG, you should really look into this G13. Just imagine all the pre-typed paragraphs you could have stored, only a single finger stroke away.

That is a lot of macros for "all kill".

i know. but without hiding, you need a few more things than a smokebomb macro for defense :(
i would have showed you all my macros thoo, but you always disappeared so damn quickly, i couldnt even hit one macro quick enough ;P

Shakaja was by far the best tamer pvper in the game. Now to some that may seem like a stupid accomplishment. But if you ever played against this guy you know how damn hard it was to take him down. He didn't have ninja, no hide/stealth, just straight up tamer death..it sucked fighting him.
