While trying to find a nightmare for a friend with good resists.

I came across one with

65 38 40 39 30

309 hits

125 stam 125 int str 508 i have been training it for my friend and it rates 4.8 on the pet power cacl. with skills included maxed out at 100.

Well my friend no longer wants it because he got a dread mare.

Can pets spawn with perfect resist? Like 65 40 40 40 30 with the mare?

I think the i came close with the hiryu i tamed that has 70 90 20 50 50 five off in cold resist.

But can it be done? I always wondered.

thx ec

I still use mine, its probably the 2nd or 3rd fastest pet combo (with a Beetle) for most things, others being Bakes (depending on resists of what you're fighting) & Frenzies.

I don't know if max is possible, my best pet is a Greater Dragon, 5 away from max.

I found a really nice mare recently, but mares in general seem so damn weak. They dont seem to have good defenses. And either monsters are programmed to "go after horses" or somehow its outdamaging the Rune Beetle (which I would say is not possible) Because even invising the mare every 30 seconds, monsters STILL retarget the mare, and resume attacking it. A mare isn't a tank. So this is very strange behavior which makes them harder to maintain.

You can decide which of your pets takes the hits by which one you pull out of the stables first.

Can you pls elaborate? I always thought that it was the first to aggro?

Is it possible I have always pulled mare out of stables first?
I dont know I never kept track...
Once you pull out of stables is there any way to set one as the default tank?
thanks

I tamed a mare a month and a half ago that is:

313 HP
524 Str
65/40/40/40/29

Four total points off perfect. I named it Perfect Roll. It is a 4.9 in the power calculator.

Riding it when you log in also counts as 'first out'.

Elaborated:
Stable everything, claim mare, claim beetle, go fight for a bit see which one takes the hits, should be the mare (apart from the few times when the monster ends up on the same tile as the beetle, being on the same tile always causes that to be aggrod because its closer)
Then try stable everything, claim beetle, claim mare, go fight for a bit, should be the beetle takes hits.

I used to think it was based on Dex which one gets there first but I'm sure I read it on here that its which one you pull out of stables first.

Absolutely.
The first pet out of the stable will be the primary aggressor and the second pet will be the secondary.

Nightmares are great secondary pets for fighting peerless and such, as they do more damage in long fights than the bake kitsune. Their damage output doesn't depends on them having a lot of mana and they have a higher base damage.

And as JD pointed out so eloquently, they aren't exactly the best tank. They're great fun when coupled with a dread war horse or a rune beetle.

A perfect pet, while possible, is extremely unlikely. In the case of a nightmare, the chance of mare with perfect reists is approximately 1 in 100,000, assuming the resist distribution is linear. If you add in perfect strength and hit points, the number soars to 1 in several million. So while possible, it's extremely unlikely to find the "perfect" mare.

My own mare is far from perfect, but does the job. I just didn't think it worth the time or effort to get a better one (unlike greater dragons, bake kitsune and rune beetles, where I do have outstanding versions of)
