Anyone still playing Catskills?

Just re-activated my UO account. The last time I played was when AOS came around which I think was pub 16? Anyways, I am playing on Catskills and notice there aren't many players around. Should I just transfer to Atlantic? I hear most people have moved there already. =(

I have to say that Catskills is mostly a "scheduled on a date/time" type of shard, so its not like you will find people all "bank sitting" somewhere all the time. There are scheduled events that we all plan for the players that enjoy that kinda stuff. The PvP'ers do not "shout out" their schedules, of course not, but there is always some action for PvP'ers in Felucca's Yew Moongate.

That being said... Catskills does have a lot of activity during the month and we keep it constantly busy. Our CALENDAR has a wide variety of events that are fun for anyone to enjoy and I do try to coordinate that with the official UO Facebook and Twitter feeds. We also have our own UO Catskills FB page and @UOCatskills Twitter feed to keep everyone notified on our events or just keep an eye out on the calendar posts on the Stratics Catskills Forum.

Also, there is still PLENTY OF ROOM to place housing (except for Castles I'd say, those are still hard to come by) on Catskills whereas on Atlantic there are only player-brokered housing availability (meaning almost every house spot is taken so the chances of placing a house on Atlantic are slim pickings, so you will have to buy one from a player and they cost a lot of gold --- like Billions sometimes --- or real cash.)

If people would actually play on the shards they planned on instead of going to Atlantic then perhaps they wouldn´t be low populated.

It depends on your playstyle I'd say ;P...I usually hunt by myself so I don't mind a less populated shard sometimes

Also, if you have your old account, see if you can claim a http://www.uoguide.com/Shard_Transfer_Shield or two, and then you can have the best of both worlds...erm shards.

But anyhow, I have a few dormant chars on Catskills if anyone needs help .

My hubbys acct has a house on Cats. A few years ago we packed up and left for Siege. Its been a blast ever since. I have a house and Castle there in the Skara area. Crafting is good as you can sell to players. Yes there are pks and dark wisps to get you. For the most part we are a friendly and helpful bunch of people. Just dont expect to see people at the banks or in Luna for that matter. Well, Luna is the place where the pks seem to hang out. We are usually crafting, hunting, out gathering resources. General chat (use the comma) is the place to meet people and if you have questions, ask. More than likely you will receive an answer and help. NEW2 is a guild there to help you get started. You will move on in 30 days to a different guild or to be on your own, but you will have a chance to see what its like there. Try it, you might just like it.

To reiterate what Ellie/Sara Siege said, I totally recommend playing Siege. It's exciting, different, fresh! Hope to see you there ZombieKitty! One of the draws for alot of people is that you can now place a house on Siege, and still have a house on another shard, without it falling. Check it out and introduce yourself in General Chat.

The General Chat is a returning player's best friend, I think.....

Just turn it on and ask around !
Several players though, use Ventrilo instead of the Chat which I think is unfortunate.......

But I prefer to keep using the general chat.
Anyways, in Catskills it is rather possible to have a level 6 Focus at West Britain bank in a reasonably fast time also at off peak time...... this should tell that there still is players on the Shard.....

I know I keep playing on it !

Oh, and by the way, welcome back !! If you need help for anything on Catskills just ask in General Chat, I always keep it open and this is why I love playing Catskills over Atlantic, I cannot stand watching the General Chat talks on Atlantic while those on Catskills do not bother me at all and so I can keep it up all the time.

How much room there still is for crafters on Siege ?

I am asking, because lots of Siege players have extra account(s) and so are self sufficient for their crafting needs plus, there is players who only play crafters on Siege.

Is the market for crafters saturated or there still is need for ?

Also, how hard is gathering the imbuing resources given the PvP theme of the shard ?
Mining and wood gathering I am not concerned, but the gathering of imbuing ingredients I am quite concerned with...

If you are looking around Britain for people, you won't see many. Luna bank at certain times of the day and weekday has people.

Every shard is unique, some more than others... *winks* I have a feeling we are going to be seeing a nice influx of returning players. How we answer questions and make suggestions matter. I recommend trying both play sets. Check out the chat channels and post on the Shard forums.

Stratics has a lot to offer returning and new players, but it is the community of all of you that makes Stratics what it is and a top source of information.

Just think you can do both!! Try Siege and Play Cats!! Best of both worlds i'd say.
Catskills is like many of the other shards you find few at times but if you holler in chat I bet they come out of the woodwork. Same with pac and a good deal of the other shards. I can atest that I have gone into Luna bank on cats and seen no one and 10 minutes later the place is busy with a good deal of players. Luna bank sitting is not a "thing" these days. With chat and all the vent type services most are not sitting in the bank.

I also endorse the idea that you try a character on Siege as well as on Cats. I have played on both over the past 16+ years but since April 2008 been only on Siege. Why? Because Siege still retains, in my experience anyhow, the feel of the game of years gone by with the exception that people here don't bank sit. General chat is the " bank sitting" of Siege and if you give a holler that you are a newcomer looking for help getting started you will get it. NEW 2 is the way to go for anyone starting a character here as they will help you with what you need to train up. I also want to point out that NEW2 is supported by all of the Siege community by donations and by, for the most part not attacking its members. We have a very dedicated EM here now organizing events but most hunts are player run. PvP certainly is part of the shard but, by and large, occurs between consenting parties, or in the form of raids on hunting expeditions which again, is an aspect of the challenge of a diverse community where both the virtuous, the evil and the non-committed exist.

Make a toon on Napa, we will get you in the guild so you can meet people. Just ask for Rocko or Harry in chat and we will get you started. We have some RP events aligned with the ongoing EM storyline and we have a lot of fun.

Well, I created a char on Atlantic and placed a Villa in Fel. I still have a few characters on Catskills which I will play as well. So I am back and forth between both.

Now, I am trying to figure out what I want to do from here. I used to PvP but I kind of feel like PvM for a while since I've returned. Not sure if I should find a guild or what though.

Plenty of space left. You might not get max storage straight out the gate.. But u could.

There are still spots in Malas Siege for 18x18 houses. If you check around in Fel you may find a spot there. Also good sizes of house with max storage.
There is always room for crafters. You could start out a char that gathers resources for others to buy. People are always wanting arrows, snake skins. relic frags, essences, etc, etc. I have both a crafter and archer. Soulstones are your friend over on Siege.
It took me less time to earn 1 mil on Siege than 10 years on Cats.

I just came back top Cats after a 4 year hiatus and i haven't seen another soul in 4 days. I had no trouble placing a house outside vesper. I did make one trip to Despise to hit OL's on LVL 3 and to my surprise there were these weird red guys on second floor hat were super happy to see me. i do miss the days of brit bank sitting, they might not talk to you but at least they were there. might jump ship to atlantic Cats is only used for hunting. checking out del yew moon gate tomorrow, hopefully better luck there.

There are players in game on cats and all the east coast and west coast shards just yip in chat. Most players dont sit in bank any more chat made that obsolete.

Just like everywhere it's going to depend on the time. Try checking the event schedule in the Catskills shard forum too. I know tonight there's a hunt in Blackthorn's dungeon and Friday there's a medusa run scheduled.

cats is a ''normal average player shard''... were.....most castles are placed.. although odd unused ones drop from time to time for easy placement or a purchase.... aka.. not a lot of gold when u compare the EM event drop prices...[.aka one good drop = buys one castle, maybe 2 drops tops]...crazy yes crazy.....and typically on a average played shard.... anyone can place a keep in tram or fellucca..or a small shop in zento, on the road, etc....not busy busy but ok at peak times...population numbers....pretty easy to estimate .......its obvoius to me ..... but i cant post numbers here[whatever]... pm me..if u really aint got a clue...lol...have a great UO day.

Got some studios leased... new building is getting its landscaping and those apartments will be available now. There is a 1 bed/1 bath and a 1 bed/1 bath (loftstyle) as well as several studios.
