Anyone running an Archer-Tamer?

Archer Tamers at one time were fairly popular. Is anyone running one nowadays? I had always wanted to try it, but never got around to it, now I'm thinking of it again, for my Atlantic Tamer, and possibly/probably for my Siege Tamer-in-training too.

Is it effective? (Interested in PvM effectiveness here mostly.)

Tame-Lore-Vet-Archery-Tactics-Magery (for gating mostly)-Anatomy? Or...?

One of my favorite templates:

Archer/Chiv/Tamer
120 archery
120 tactics
115 lore
110 taming
110 vet
80 chivalry
60 meditation

The archer/chiv/tamer combines the damage output of a chiv/archer with the tanking power of a pet. This template is one of my favorites due to its versatility. Peerless, champs, PvM, PvP - it can handle any situation.

Although I've never used it, here's one that incorporates mage:

Archer/Mage/Tamer
120 Archery
110 Tactics
115 lore
110 taming
110 vet
100 magery
50 med

Another option is to replace 110 tactics with 110 eval, then use an imbued bow with a double hit spell. With velocity and either fireball or lightning, you'll be doing a decent bit of damage through hit spells alone, even without tactics.

Do you find the damage output of the Archer side of it feels "powerful enough"?

I'm not looking for "uber" necessarily (this isn't a min/max'ers template I think), but I sure want to be able to kill cool double whopper with cheese.

Well, I can tell you this: during the shadowlord manifestation, when you had to be one of the top three damagers to receive the cloak of corruption, I got a cloak with the archer/chiv/tamer about 9 out of 10 times.

With EOO, consecrate weapon, and 120 tactics, you can really rack up some damage. Of course, you could always stone off vet for bushido to make an ABC archer/tamer. I like vet, though - don't like waiting 5 minutes for a vet to rez my pet.

P.S. I should note that you need 4/6 fc/fcr for this template, as chivalry will be your only means of healing. Works great for me, though.

2/6 is the cap for magery, chivalry is capped at 4/6

Magery and necro are capped at 2/6, weaving is capped at 4/6, and chivalry is capped at 4/6 unless you also have 70 magery. If you have both 70 magery and chivalry, chivalry is capped at 2/6.
