Just curious if anyone else has tried pvming relying on pots for heals, cures, explosions, invis? My alchemist is also a carpenter and I think maybe going to be a bard. He runs around throwing pots and blowing himself up once in a while but the pots are pretty powerful if you can time them. The delay in using heal potions seems to be a limiting factor. You have to run away wait for one or more cycles of the timer, heal up and come back to throw more pots. Timing is difficult since it depends on the speed of the opponent. Most of them seem to slow down after a good hit so they get easier but then you have to use different timing.

If you are doing low level only, I guess it could work. But to go against higher levels you need other skills. I have used magery for offensive and pots only for heal/cure, but only with lower levels and where I needed my mana pool for offense only.

I've tossed alchemy on my Archer at times, and with a balanced bow will toss explosion pots at peerless.

Don't stop at just alchemy on your archer though, throw on 50ep and see the difference. Use conflag and greater exp potions on spawn via macros whilst shooting with a slayer weapon and use chiv enemy of one, with that method you can cause i.e 'Dark Father' 162-195 HP hits, then potions will do conflag:18-24HP and exp potions: 60-90HP

Those greater conflagration potions are great. It takes 2 greater explosions at 100 alchemy and 50 ep or just one greater conflagration to kill a reaper. For other monsters they make up for not being able to target the monster precisely due to movement and if you run around in a circle around the fire field they will stay in it and loose hitpoints.

I do from time to time, just for kicks.. not so much since the EP cap came down but it's still fun. With the stackable potions, I find it a little easier to manage equipment.

I do use support skills, though. For hunting, I do arctic ogre lords using Hiding/luring to control them. With white wyrms, I use Herding to keep them on target. Also, sometimes I'll "dryad allure" an AOL or troglodyte and use them as a tank to keep the target from wandering too far, much easier than one-on-one.

I haven't really bothered with anything other than that except peerless bosses, mostly Melisande, Dreadhorn and Travesty.
