Anyone mine in KR?

Is it playable yet? And I'm not taking any swipes at the client, I'm honestly curious. Folks I know had such lag they couldn't move past a crawl.. and so on.

I tried mining in KR for a while (not since the latest patch, though). Right now, I prefer 2d with with UOA.

My personal thoughts--others may disagree.

--KR macro is item specific. No "use item type". When your tool is destroyed, you have to edit the macro and drag in new tools. It does not take too long and you can mitigate this a bit by throwing multiple tools into the original macro, but I personally find UOA a better solution.

--I seem to have a lot of trouble dragging ore into the pack of my beetle. Takes me several tries. Also, the beetle is HUGE and (as of a few patches ago) seems to jerk all over the place when I ride. Functional, but I don't like the look.

I'm still hoping for improvement in KR. I am not a KR hater, But for me the current 2d is more enjoyable than the current KR.

Thank you for the input from a KR user.

Me, I don't use UOA or KR.. I just plug along with my use last item macro in UO. It's simple and I can flee from blackrock elementals, cause I'm not mining via any looped macro.

Just my miner and my fire beetle.. meandering along. Last item brings up the targetting cursor, and I know the mountainside well enough to aim. Left hand.. right hand. Click, click, yep.. mining is simple enough today.

Now for item creation, I may have to rethink things.. but as yet for mining, nope.

well in 2d I use Last Object, wait for target, target last usually.

I tried the KR functions, and I can't say I like the "mine all" functionality. It keeps trying to mine anything in range, which means if you are on a corner box you might start mining the wrong section. It also likes to try mining further away than I expect.

You can always stop a macro in KR these days with "esc".

It's not perfect but it's ok. I try experimenting with it now and then.

The good stuff is you can set spells, skills and things on the hotbar and then just hit the number for them. So set up an emergency recall macro and then set it to "1", for example. I am going to play with the custom UI stuff eventually, but haven't had the energy yet.

Oh, and the little dirt patches are VERY hard to see in KR.

I keep both, one to start a vein and the other to mine it.

Also, you can switch tools (like prospector tool) by double clicking it, then do the macro, it will use your tool and last-target. To switch back just double click a shovel and then macro.

It doesn't save a LOT of time, but if you just managed to hit a vein it keeps you from having to click a few spots to re-find it.

But I use last object a lot, so no biggie there

Here's my super duper KR mining setup. I set my macro to dig six times and repeat twice(so I don't go over weight and lose ore) then I smelt on ye o'l portable forge(fire bug). Now the easy way to smelt is make a hot bar and set each large ore in a slot and set the target to current for each. This can be done for the smaller pieces as well but I haven't bothered. When ready to smelt click beetle to set as current and hit each ore on the hot bar that is not greyed out. Put ingots in pack horse. Now I only mine caves as the mining macro does not like mountain sides because it will try to mine areas out of reach and bugger up the macro. But overall I can mine much more efficient in KR than 2D. I'm actually playing about 90% in KR now.

And what do you do in a cave when you mine up a blackrock elemental?

I keep hearing all the concern over BREs. Not sure I understand. . .

I've been playing my GM miner ALOT over the past month. --Decided to work up smith and tinker on my mule.

I have run into exactly one BRE. Yes it killed me and my trusty blue beetle, but it has just happened once in all that time. (I have found blackrock in my pack a total of three times).

Am I just getting lucky with the RNG? This seems like a much bigger issue to other posters here.

I have never dug up a BRE, but running like the devil sounds good.

Never got a BRE!!!!!!!

Luuucckkkky.

I got 5 in 2 days and I only mine about an hour to two hours a day. I use last object-last target on Alt-M.
So I'm sittiing there kind of watching tv...alt-m, alt-m, alt-m, BRE, alt-m, BRE.ooOOOoo

That's right. Two back to back, at the same time. So, a macro doing 6 hits could (though very doubtful) get you 6 BRE's before you could move. I doubt you would make it to six as the first one would whack you way before then.

They NEVER show up when I 'm ready for 'em. Always when I'm only half paying attention. Skeaky bast......
