Anyone know why?

I neededto make a few bottles tonight and took out my trusty shoval and went for some sand... well that was the idea anyways. Now I have a vendor house on Magincia, and its al sand around the island right? I should be able to mine the sand.... nope it says you cant mine that. SO why not??
I use to get sand here all the time , now you tell me i cant mine anywhere on the island??
What gives...

The charater you are mining sand with, does he have the glassblowing knowledge? I just tested the streets in Maginica and works fine for me.

The npc that sells the glassblowing training books has been moved to TerMur also if you need it.

it's not the glassblowing book you need - that's for alchemists, it's the sand mining book
