Back in the olden days whenever there were patch problems they always used to say to go to your "patch" folder and make sure it was empty and try again. I just checked mine and it is empty and I patched successfully on XP. I am using the classic client - i have no idea if you are using the other one.

this is where my folder is - yours may be someplace else:

C:\Program Files\EA Games\Ultima Online Samurai Empire\patch

My uo version is 7.0.6.3 (Patch 95)

Sorry that didn't help, I'm not really sure what else you could do. Unless you could copy the files from one of your patched computers over to your unpatched computer. It seems like I had to do that once many years ago.

Are you running a firewall (like Zonealarm or something) or any virus software that might be causing it to hang up? Maybe try patching with that stuff shut off?

Poo,

Look in your UO folder for the "patchlog" file. It will not have an extension on it, but open it with notepad and you can read it fine. Look for the problem listed within it. Typically a file it is trying to replace has a problem. If you'd like you can post the file here or PM it to me and I'll glady help you resolve it.

k

i just got back to the fire hall.
we have been running off our feet today.

people are dieing to meet me..... get it..... dieing to meet me..... get it!!!!

hehe

anyways, ive DLed that DL 7 times now and every time it hangs up.
i scan disked and defraged (the knoledge base said to do that)
and nothing.

i checked the hard drive.... 95% open, so that isnt the problem.

unfortunatlly im not at home and wont be for a couple days as im at work, so i cant copy it off one of my other comps that it worked on.

(damn i cant stand this back pack closing all the time glitch!!!!)

ill go have a look for this patch log and see what i can find.

thanks for the help too.

I had the same problem, but am using Windows Vista. I am not sure what the solution for XP may be, but when I ran it, I selected "Run as Administrator" rather than just double-clicking it and it patched just fine. I can't check on my XP computers right now, but if there is a similar option (I don't think there is though), you might be able to try that?

Poo had a corrupt map file which was not patching. I checked the patchlog and it detailed the problem. Copying the file from the other PC should solve it.

Same prob for me this morn...at a hotel, brought uo on the laptop all set to go...patching...er stuck, no ok button option. tried everything INCLUDING uninstall/reinstall and gaaah damned if it didn't get hung up on the patch AGAIN!

Was a truly boring nite in the hotel room with no uo, and crapola on tv.

which file is it, if it's only a tiny one someone else with vista may be able to upload or email it. If it's a text based one they could even copy the contents so that you can make your own through copy/paste.

It was the 87mb map0.mul file. I put it up and Poo downloaded it, but still had problems.

Those of you having problems check your "patchlog" file in your main UO folder. It will tell you what went wrong. The file is a plain text file but doesn't have a file extension so you will have to tell Windows to open it with notepad. I'll post an example error in a few minutes.

This was Poo's patchlog error:

Code:
Applying MODIFY File Patch for 'MainMisc.uop'

New Version of File 'MainMisc.uop' already exists.

End patch

map0.mul

Applying MODIFY File Patch for 'map0.mul'

error ept0036:

Old File not found. However, a file of the same name was
found. No update done since file contents do not match.

Error applying patch

Error during session
For each file modified it will first list the file it is going to change and then the results. Notice MainMisc.uop shows the new version already exists. This indicates Poo successfully patched it the first time and now it doesn't need patching. The map0.mul file however erred out. The patcher sees the file but says its contents don't match what it expects to see and therefore it won't attempt to modify it.

3 Solutions to this problem:

1) If you have access to another PC that has successfully patched, copy the file from there to the one that failed and the next patch attempt will see it as complete and move on to the next file.
2) Less chance of this, but if you have a good copy of the last version of the file prior to this patch copy it in and it should patch.
3) Reinstall UO from scratch. This method is often reported here as being the only solution and really should be your last resort.

Did you check to see if it bombed on the same file or the next in the patch order?
