Anyone found a reason for killing Ortanords?

The Void Daemon Wisps. They don't attack anything, they have about 90 each resist, and they drop absolutely no loot. Killed 20 and got 0 loot from any of them.

Has anyone tried dispelling them? Does that do anything different?

They're basically the monster-equivalent of trash littering Ter Mur. They spawn when Void Demons evolve.

So... Has anyone figured out their purpose? Or any reason to hunt them?

Huh? Oh, I don't think so, I mean people do it all the time on Siege Perilous with sheep. And it's not like Ortanords even have a regular spawn location, so I see no reason why you couldn't.
... not sure why you'd want to, but I'm sure you could.

Has anyone tried training their pets on them? Seems like that'd work well, but that's still not a very good use for them.

Ortanords have 20 wrestling, which makes them great for training low level pets, so long as you can keep them alive from the rather powerful magic attacks that Ortanords have.

I took a brand new skree (30 wrestling) and attacked an Ortanord with it. The skree had 60 wrestling (remember, the Ortanord gained wrestling during the process as well) before the Ortanord died.

I'm pretty sure that killing Ortanord can get korpre to spawn as well, but I haven't proved it to myself yet, so I'm just spreading rumor here.

Put them to use... surely sticking 10 of those into my garden area of my house will cut down on the lawnmoving (If there is any lawn left)

Aye, that´s what I did as well.

Stuck my freshly tamed Skree on one and they fought for a while and the Skree got good gains. The Skree took little damage and the wisp refused to die...

I think the Skree went from 29ish to 55+ before I wanted to move on and Por Corp Wis´d the wisp to death.

Nope, unless that changed recently. They're NOT void demons.

has anyone tried provoking other spawn onto them to see if they will evolve when they kill something, like the other void critters do?

Yeah, I just use them for resist training on pets. Works wonders on my dread, he also gained .2 magery so Im glad.

Check to see if they give you reputation points. I think they did.

i got 2 or 3 when i used them to train up don't know how many i killed

They can but rarely drop void essence used in imbuing and making the crafted soulstones.

I used em for training throwing. they don't die easy, barely scratched my character and they heal themselves, so i got a lot of gains by just sitting there watching my char fight lol.
