Yep. When I logged in after things went live, I took my first character to the bank and thought, "What the heck? I have more gold than that." Then I logged out and starting logging each character in one by one. When finished, all was well and the total balance was correct.

I logged all my guys in, now how do I check the balance?
Figured it out: open bank box then say "check balance".
Now, there is new currency? Platinum? WTF ?!?!?

1. go to the bank and click the banker, choose "open bankbox" it will bring up a new screen with balances
2. click yourself and choose "open insurance menu" it will tell you how much is available to use as insurance, which happens to be the amount in the bank
Platinum = 1 billion gold
You have got to be kidding me. 1 billion gold.. I got 13m for all my characters combined. How do you get that much ?
Also, what is "Secured Gold" mean?
Secure gold is the gold that can be transferred to the craftable wall safe (house add on); I think this is for transferring gold between accounts that have been granted access to it, although you can transfer gold directly via the trade window also.
If you get 77 people to transfer you their 13m, you could have a platinum of your own.
Kind of funny though, that our only money denominations are one and one billion.

Dup'd checks were deleted too if you didn't launder them by cashing and rechecking before the patch.
I just had something weird (and frustrating) happen.
I went to my vendor that had 600mil on it. I transferred 50mil to my bank. My bank balance went from 19mil to 69mil. My vendor, afterwards, had only 10mil. Now, you might think I mis-counted a zero, but I know it was 600mil because I had to recover 600 1-mil checks from a dropped vendor just a few weeks ago and then transfer them all to a new vendor. basically, I lost 550mil just by transferring gold to my bank account.
I recommend against other people transferring gold for now. Also, I wonder if there is a way to get my gold back?
I tried logging onto all characters and checking balances and checking vendors and whatnot. No change. Any ideas from anyone?

Well, I've made in-game reports daily since the incident, and I've had no response. 550mil is a lot to just randomly disappear in one transaction, so I'm leaving UO. I was excited to come back and experience the full extent of the new content, but it's frustrating to have my life savings vanish after an "improvement" was implemented. I'll be selling everything and then letting my account time run out. Sorry guys, I've just been res killed, and I'm not looking for a healer anymore.
Does your play style require all that gold to be enjoyable? Myself, If my bank accounts had disappeared, I'd have made a few vividly colorful comments on the ancestry of devs all the way back to the big bang, and kept right on playing. This game is too fun to quit over a pile of gold in a bank that has very little effect on my play.
I was saving up a pile of gold so I could buy a nice home. For years, I've been living in houses that never store over 1000 secured because good plots are all taken and I didn't want to spend the money on something until it was perfect. A pile of gold, especially one worked hard for over a period of several years, can in fact have a huge impact on someone's desire to play. The gold is just a thing, yes, but so is your suit of armor, and we all know you put time and effort into making that, and it would be a huge inconvenience if it were to disappear after something silly like trying to swap out slayer spellbooks.
Your bank account was just emptied, but, you know, it's just money. Real life is waaaay more enjoyable and meaningful than just money. There's love, and happiness, and discovery. Yea, but money makes accomplishing things a little easier, right?

Yeah I'm missing about $360 a year with 3 accounts.
