Anyone else having problem cross breading plants?

I've been cross breading Tribarrel Cactus' and Water Plants. At first I was getting Rushes. So I thought it might an accident with the plants I used.. So I did it a couple other times and got the same results. So thinking its because I used the plants to cross pollinate others before I started to grow a fresh Tribarrel Cactus and Water Plant from seeds. As soon as they were ready to pollinate I used the Water Plant to pollinate the Tribarrel Cactus. This time I got an Elephant ear plant!

How do you make a Prickly Pear Cactus? Also keep in mind I can't do a barrel cactus and snake plant as they require a prickly pear...

The guide on stratics has the same information as mine (UO Stratics - Plant Crossing)

(Time frame: rushes were from maybe the last 3 months. The elephant ears were from today... so cross breading this last week)

it was a while ago, but if I'm remembering correctly when the flowery cactus was introduced it complicated reproduction of the tribarrels... made them random or something, so that if you were expecting a tribarrel or another plant as the result of crossing with a tribarrel the outcome was no longer a given

i have told a couple new gardeners to work on getting all 12 tri-barrel cactus(6 colors bright and regular) first. Then by the time you get them all you'll end up with most of your other plant seeds by default.just getting random seeds

thanks for the tips and info! and thanks to the mods for removing the posts due to my awesome spelling skill!

I wonder if there are any plans to fix this... Or if its a desired change.

I remember reading a Dev post that they were going to fix it but due to the wildly liked developmet players loved it... so no fix. If you need seeds check around the gardening boards perhaps one on your shard will share a mature one with you.
