Anyone else have empty corpse?

Three times tonight I died and each time my corpse was empty although I had lots of potions, bandies, bags and some other items. I ended up losing all each time.

I kept clicking my corpse, clicking open corpse and it remained empty.

Then my body didn't change to bones, it just disappeared.

Anyone else have this happen? It never has happened to me before tonight.

Hmm, couple questions first. Are you sure you didn't just auto-loot like is typical? Now days in UO everything you had on you when you die get auto-looted when you double-click the corpse.

If thats not the case, were there monsters around when you died? Sometimes they loot you.

Or, lastly, are you part of the thieves guild? Anyone can loot you, tram even I think.

On another note. Bodies disappear instead of changing to bones if there is no loot on them.

I use 2D.

In two of these instances there was only Guile anywhere near me. I had multiple potions, bandies, apples, gold and a trap box. I have never seen any monster loot more than one item, usually it's just gold or bandies. The third time I was at a champ spawn and yes there were several monsters by me but I didn't see the message that they looted anything. Again I had multiple items on me.

An empty corpse answers why I didn't see bones though. I hadn't thought of that.

I play a lot, for 4 1/2 years now, and have probably died at least a million times. It's the first time this has happened to me so I'm thinking maybe this is some new bug.

U died and was rezzed but died again while making your way back to your first corpse..when rezzed the second time u tried to open the empty 2nd corpse?? and not your first one with all the stuff on it?? = maybe?

Let me add that this happened on two chars.

On the first char I died two times. The first time I died, I was ress'd and had my insured and blessed items and then checked my corpse. It was empty. I left to restock. Then I went back and died again. Once more my corpse was empty.

On the second char I died once, again had all my insured and blessed items and an empty corpse.

All of these times there was just one corpse to check.

Call a GM and ask him/her to check your ghost pack.

I really don't think a GM would respond before the corpse disappears.

I've submitted it as a bug though as I really can't think of anything else that would cause this to happen.

Oh I re-read what you said. But as a ghost I can't click on my corpse to see if it's empty.

I think what he is saying is that ghosts have their own packs, and your items may have glitched in there.

Here's a thought, with everything out of your pack, and nakid, are you carrying more stones than you should be? Maybe you have them but they've glitched and you can not see them? I've heard of this happening with resources when the recycle bags came out.

Happened to me once, as well as corpse just going poof.
I died, went for rez, knew exactly where corpse should have been and there was nothing there at all.

The rez process took under 3 minutes too. Fluke bug that appears as often as the purple llama.

Perhaps you were playing in fel? Fel is full of all sorts, not only do monsters loot but other players do too and being on your corpse its free for all, thiefs are good at this, loot an item and hide... just an option.

If your characters were in the thieves guild, then your corpse can be looted on all facets.

My chars aren't in the thieves guild.

The first two deaths were in Twisted Weald in Malas, the third was in Fel Lost Lands.

I was in sight of my corpse each time and no one else went near it.

I just stripped several of my chars on two accounts to check their weight. Naked my chars have 15 stones (underwear? )

The two chars this happened to were on the same account. I haven't died yet on the second account to see if it'll happen with that one.

Were all of the potions and bandages and such in a single bag? I've had guildmates scream "SOMEONE LOOTED ALL MY STUFF HOW IS THAT POSSIBLE?!" and then realized it was all in a single bag which was indeed looted by a lich. It makes it much easier to get dry-looted that way.

None of the items missing were in a bag. All were in the main backpack.

I have actually been dry-looted by rats in a champ spawn fairly recently. It isnt very common, but if there are several around the corpse then it can happen.

The only way you could know for sure if you were dry-looted by Guile would be to kill it and see if your stuff was there. Without having that information ... it makes it really hard to deem it as a bug or not.

Also, I had a Lich Lord in Doom dry loot me of several stacks of pots and bandies recently. I was confused by it, as it is outside the norm, but sure enough, all my stuff was on the single lich lord corpse.

Ailish what you said makes sense. I didn't kill Guile to see if it had looted everything. After the second death and finding an empty corpse I didn't want to restock and have it happen a third time.

And as I said I was at a champ spawn the third time and didn't try looting the monsters.

It just strikes me as odd that it would happen three deaths in a row when it's never happened to me before. But it's possible, I guess.

I don't know if you can get a GM to show up and check for you or not, but I do remember having Senior Counselors check what they termed "death gumps" for missing stuff on players many years ago. Unless the devs have made some big changes to the basics of how the game works I'd guess there is still such a thing as a "death gump."

Some time back my t-hunter died, and after getting her rezzed I noticed an old newbie kilt was missing. I looked everywhere, moved absolutely everything in my pack, emptied it, you name it I did it looking for that kilt. I finally just logged off for the day in disgust. I logged in the next day and lo and behold! that kilt was in my backpack!

If it happens again I would definitely try paging a GM. Might not do any good, but you won't really know for sure until you try.

Actually everyone here is wrong.

Sometimes your corpse ends up underneath a monster corpse so even when you click on your name it opens the monsters corpse.

try last target to see if it opens yours, or cut up the monster corpse over yours and that should fix it

You are wrong about that man. It is rare, but it does happen. Usually what you get is more than one monster looting you (despise rats, for instance), but again, it is pretty rare.

I suppose its possible, but ive died quite a lot to ratman mages in despise and very very rarely do they ever loot more than 1 item. In fact ive never had it happen to me ever and ive been playing since 1997.

But i guess it is possible. either way, i think her issue is that the corpse is over her corspe. last object should open the correct one.

yes true, but i had the same thing happen to me day before yesterday, and to resolve it i used last object and it opened my corpse not the monsters.

All she has to do next time is try. I may be wrong, but something tells me i'm not.

Either way, im just trying to help by providing another solution that no one else did.
