Anybody else stuck on Verifying Account?

I play UO (Classic Client) on Dail-up (Yes....it still exists) and so the current patch is going to take me.....awhile....to completely download. My usual strategy is to download the patch in overnight sessions so I can play with game.

I have a portion of it downloaded and when I try to get in-game, I get struck at verifying account. Anybody else having this problem?

i *think* you have to d/l the entire patch before you can login. i tried logging in without patching and it wouldn't work. i'm still patching, it's about halfway done. but that's my guess. recent patches have been like that. can't login until you patch.

Dial-up is still the only option for some Internet users. Satellite-based systems have way too much lag for games; cellular-based is ridiculously expensive($60/month) and imposes usage limits, such as 5 gigs per month.

I could drive to Mythic headquarters and back 8+ times before the current ~250 meg patch will be downloaded at my location.

Dial-up is something I have learned to live with since the early days of the Net. But the frustration here is that there was no warning of this very large mandatory patch. And, I have not found a link to download patches like this individually. Therefore, I can't even drive to a friend's place that has high speed and retrieve the patch. Probably will have to transport the desktop itself for this one, since I fear my "fleet" may decay before I get back in-game.
