Any way to drag heavy chest up the ladders?

Heya,

I just moved from custom house to a keep. I want my crafting to take place on the roof but... Is there any way for me to drag this 60k stones chest to the roof, up the ladders?

Just wanted to be sure before I start doing something else.

You can drag it. Just pick it up, hold it with the cursor, and walk up the ladder slowly.

put chest on floor next to ladder, stand in center of ladder, turn on circle of transparency (might have to futz with the settings/size) and heave the thing up to the next floor.

I've done this with chests, pouches, stacks, you name it. Works every time.

Assuming the items in the chest that are so heavy are resources, deed all of the resources, move the chest to the roof, then use a Commodity Deed Box to claim all of the resources and place back in the box.

You cant walk even a single step with a 60k stone chest on your cursor, heh.
Hmm, really? What's the weight limit of what you can't carry on your cursor? lol

But if it really is too much, split up the contents and carry them up in two or three trips :)

This is what I did when I moved into my keep. My crafting area is on the main roof. Took me a few minutes before I landed on that solution.

This. Real simple solution and the commodity deed box will remain useful in the future!

60K stones on the cursor will not allow you to even move. You'll rubberband right back.

I had the same issue in a keep and gladly dropped it for a 18x18 where I could teleport between floors easily.

I think we need some portable staircases.

You could probably make some gozas and place them and raise them with an interior decorator into a staircase that you could drag the chest up one goza step at a time.

Also have a ladder handy to get you on top the roof to drag the chest the last step up since it's a bit tricky getting that last goza over the top edge of a castle roof (I'm sure keeps are the same).

There used to be a nice thread about building goza stairs over in the Home and Castles forum but I couldn't seem to find it last time I looked.

That's probably because the Devs have requested that people not build things out of gozas (some people added 1-3 ENTIRE FLOORS TO CASTLES with gozas!) as it creates major lag issues, even if you never go into the house, and GMs can and will delete goza structures they find.

You should be able to drag it anywhere within 1-2 tiles of the tile you're standing on, that is you can shift a chest up to 4 tiles in any direction most times. The following guidelines are what I would recommend and should work in the 2D client for sure as that's what I've tested them with:

1. Never move while dragging the chest. This is unnecessary and a waste of your character's stamina.

2. Make sure that wherever you are standing is within reach of both the origin tile and the destination tile. I can't count the number of times I went and tried to drag it from 3 tiles away instead of 1-2, don't worry you get the hang of it eventually.

3. If you are dragging up stairs in Keeps/Castles, you may need to drag to within one tile of you but you should still be able to make 2 tiles at a time up stairs.

4. If you're going to go dragging it up a ladder, stand next to the base of the ladder drop it onto the bottom of the ladder move up to the top of the ladder where the wall is, turn your circle of transparency on in the 2D client so that this wall vanishes from sight temporarily (I haven't tested this with SA client) and drop the chest down on the tile just north or west of the wall. This works best with visible walls, if you're trying to do this on a wall that's not visible from the roof (EG north or west walls) it may be a lot more difficult. Shifting the ladder temporarily to a visible wall would be a lot easier to do.

5. Sometimes it may be necessary to move objects or redeed decoration temporarily because these items may impede the line of sight your character has or make the chest go behind them, turning it invisible. Planning of your intended route is the way to go, and carefully picking interim destinations will help greatly in getting that chest to where you want it to go.

6. You probably already know this, but dismount from your pet before doing this. It is a lot easier to see an item if your mount does not get in the way, and if you park them in a suitable spot beforehand, they will quite happily wait for you to finish whatever it is you're trying to accomplish.

I've not tested this with a gargoyle character, human/elf/gargoyle though should work fine for this.

If you can't get this done yourself, I will be quite happy to create or bring a character on whatever shard you need this done on and help you drag it around. I think that with a little practice you can quite easily drag it around yourself.

"You can once again place addons on top of goza mats."

I don't think the Devs or GMs will ban you for using gozas considering how quickly they fixed being able to place on top of them in Pub 61.1 when they broke them I am guessing with Pub 61.

They could have left them broken if they hated them so much.

Or do you mean that the entire goza stair building thread was removed from the Home and Castles forum due to some players building three extra floors above their houses?

My castle is such a horrible mess of goza stairs going every which way from me trying to build new floors until I hit blackness high up above that a recent visitor felt sorry for me and gave me two heritage tokens so I could get some ladders.

He was a nice guy but he didn't understand Building With Gozas.
