I play on Atlantic the most populated server, certain times of the day its impossible to get a focus, and lately it seems to be getting worse, i can't imagine what it would be like tryin to play a spellweaver on a low pop server
The trade off with spellweaving is that it has no "eval". It costs no regs, doesn't require spell channeling, can be 4/6 casting and has a steep mana cost. I think it's balanced very well right now. I play on sonoma and I don't have much trouble getting a circle. I like your idea but perhaps tie it to a skill that isn't already tied into "eval".. as focus helps mysticism. I can see the potential for it being overpowered as mysticism was at first when it triggered off eval intel and not focus.I´ve said this before.
As an alternative to the arcane circle, they could use the skill Focus as a way to bump up SW.
20 Focus gives a focus 1 bump
40 Focus gives a focus 2 bump
60 Focus gives a focus 3 bump
80 Focus gives a focus 4 bump
100 Focus gives a focus 5 bump
120 Focus gives a focus 6 bump
That way people can either get a bump through players or by having the Focus skill on. It shouldn´t stack however.
They sort of do, though it's not passive. The Arcane Empowerment spell increases the potency of most spells used while under the effects of it.one thing I always thought Spellweaving needed was a way of having synergy with other spell casting skills, like say 120 magery would improve the heal quality of Gift of Renewal, or 120 Necromancy would improve Word of Death damage, etc. etc.
that's true, is useful for GHeals and the like, even. without a focus, of course, it lasts for maybe one or two heals! They sort of do, though it's not passive. The Arcane Empowerment spell increases the potency of most spells used while under the effects of it. the duration of Arcane empowerment doesn't last very long though, maybe 30 seconds or so at 120 spell-weaving with a lvl 6 focus ?
It's not that is is for loners, but why should solo players be punished for wanting to play by themselves? No other skill in game requires you to have a group to use it.i think the original idea was to make a system in which players had to interact with one another...but they obviously forgot UO is for loners ;P
because its a very powerful skill that doesnt require regs or a supporting skill. your not meant or need to have a full focus all the time. It's not that is is for loners, but why should solo players be punished for wanting to play by themselves? Chivalry doesn't require regs or a supporting skill. Last I checked you didn't need 4 other people to use that.because its a very powerful skill that doesnt require regs or a supporting skill. your not meant or need to have a full focus all the time.
i could see something like:
Without focus, spellweaving regs could be used to achieve the same effect of a level 3 focus.
This has been brought up as far back as 2006 by many players, in game, & on stratics over the years. In fact, the difficulty to gather a max focus on low pop servers already led me to removing spellweaving off all of my casters, melee, & ranged class builds. Am I disappointed... you bet ya, but oh well I already adjusted. What ever purpose this may have held in bringing community together to group for circles has long been diminished to nothing. I've waited around for hours typing in the morning in general chat, & usually ignored by the few remnants of life left on the servers around night/morning hours. Unless I contacted players from other servers & organized help, it was a lost cause for me to play late at night with any of my former spellweaving builds. I'm past it now, & honestly if it ever changes wonderful, & if not oh well.I´ve said this before.

i see your point, however Chivalry requires keeping your Karma up to be 100% effective. (as well as gold but the gold is insignificant)Chivalry doesn't require regs or a supporting skill. Last I checked you didn't need 4 other people to use that.
To say you don't have/need a circle is absurd. The skill is horrible without a circle, to the point of uselessness. Its very mana intensive and to the point of uselessness. IE Word of Death with no circle. You're telling me you use that all the time? Sorry but no.
This needs to be fixed like every other skill so that those playing alone can use the skill just the same as those who have big guilds. Regs is a horrible argument also. Considering LRC is in game and with LRC for example you don't use tithe points. If that's your argument then have spellweaving have tithe so that solo players can use it also since chiv is the same as spellweaving according to you. It takes no regs, and it doesn't take another skill.
I wasnt going to get THAT detailed. I was just talking about for the main points. However if I could have a skill actually be useful all for tithing points and karma I would take that trade.i see your point, however Chivalry requires keeping your Karma up to be 100% effective. I wonder if it shouldn't be tied to meditation instead, but I guess focus is better for dexxers and the like if any dexxers still run more than pixies lolI´ve said this before.
