[Spellweaving] Another Spellweaving thread

I've done a bit of searching, I've done reading on this, and other forums.

So, I'm asking this after clicking search. :D

Is there a playguide or something for spellweaving? Yes I've read what all the spells do, but I'm more interested in what players think the actual value of the spells are and what gear is required and arcane focus is required to make them worth wile.

It's kinda like a sampire to me. It seems without the right focus, SDI, etc spell weaving isn't useful. Kinda like a sampire without LifeLeech and Manaleech, and 0 DCI.

Is there a target SDI, MR, LMC, and Focus to make WoD worth 50 mana? (Seems that Energy Bolt and a slayer spell book are faster casting, less mana intensive, and can deal out just as much if not more DPS.)

Healing seems the same. With the longish casting, and 24 mana, EoW is kinda cool, but ultimately you only need a 50 SW to cast that, so why go to 100, or 110, or 120? Just for WoD, but is WoD 'really' all that?

Maybe its better because you don't NEED a slayer spell book to lay down 300 damage with 50 mana, IF you have a level 5 focus, IF you have 80% SDI, IF you have etc etc etc.

So what are the gear requirements to make this 'feel' worth 100 points.

On the other hand, it is a bit nice because it doesn't have any secondary skills. No Eval Int, or anything required, just gear to make it work. (However with the mana cost on these spells I can't see playing with WoD without meditation.)

So a bit of a ramble, be gentile. I've been out of UO for about 10 years, and I'm really trying to get up to speed on all the new skills, and what is worth while and what isn't.

well post is abit old but to answer a couple of your questions, like why go to GM or better spellweaving? mostly so you can get a focus, with less skill you will have a hard time getting a focus(you have to be within 20 skill point to do).

As for WoD its no where near as good as it was when it first came out, but still useful. mostly against higher end mobs with high resists, WoD does direct damage(bypasses resists).

as for a couple other of the more useful spells(gift of renewal and attunement). at 120 SW and a 6 focus u basically regen 16 hp every 2 seconds(24 if under arcane empowerment)for several minutes. its slow casting and has a cool down timer, so best to use before you go into a fight. attunement absorbs physical damage(i believe 87 hp max), is fairly quick to cast lasts a couple minutes, and is very useful if you get into abit of trouble(also has cool down timer)
