You know there are still people with metered connections out there right? They should set up a couple hundred megabyte patch for every other day and make the script programs useless. Of course those folks who vanish from the game for a couple days after every patch might close their accounts.
Most companies have it "metered" in the sense that if you use over a certain amount a month they start selling you blocks of data or they throttle you back to dial up.You know there are still people with metered connections out there right?
So... You.... Understand why adding gigabytes of downloads in a month arbitrarily would be a problem....?Most companies have it "metered" in the sense that if you use over a certain amount a month they start selling you blocks of data or they throttle you back to dial up.
precisely, it is an unnecessary waste of our Data allotment. and regardless of the fact that i get a Terabyte of data a month, i wouldn't want it wasted on superfluous patches. there's too much porn and gun videos for that . . .So... You.... Understand why adding gigabytes of downloads in a month arbitrarily would be a problem....?
Gotten to used to my apparently unmetered 12 meg connection, hadn't even considered that. A couple meg would likely do the trick though, making the script programs to much hassle due to having to continually update them. You know there are still people with metered connections out there right?
Good grief stop with this already. The devs making a patch won't do crap. You think those who designed said software wouldn't simply remove the check. The only thing that this would accomplish is irritating their userbase even more so.Gotten to used to my apparently unmetered 12 meg connection, hadn't even considered that. The ad blocker I run likely helps though. Not endlessly getting advertisements I don't want, what had often been for something I just bought got really old. All that ad garbage has to add up to a real big chunk of people's metered limits.
Untrue. A mandatory patch, one that changed the encryption schema of the data stream every few days would cripple the more invasive 3rd party programs.Good grief stop with this already. It would certainly irritate those who use the script programs! The poor souls would have to play on equal terms with others, no unfair advantages, oh such cruelty.Good grief stop with this already. A couple meg patch would take a few seconds and you click a WIN 10 window, no effect on your play, why would eliminating the script programs annoy you?I don't use anything but UOA and it would annoy the **** out of me.
patches usually Break UOA too, don't they?A couple meg patch would take a few seconds and you click a WIN 10 window, no effect on your play, why would eliminating the script programs annoy you?
There is a high chance of even the smallest patch breaking UOA, yeah.patches usually Break UOA too, don't they?
A UAC prompt affects all my monitors, and I'm generally watching something via HDMI onto the big screen TV with my wife if we're both sitting here in the living room in the evening. So if I want to start up a game that has a daily patch just for the sake of patching, I have to let her know I'm about to pause it, then hope that the UAC prompt didn't make whatever media player/web player I'm using decide to screw up and have to reload Firefox to get it to start playing again, find where we were previously, etc.A couple meg patch would take a few seconds and you click a WIN 10 window, no effect on your play, why would eliminating the script programs annoy you?
You'll find out when you upgrade from Windows 98Never had a problem. What is a UAC prompt from and do?
That is still the most common OS around these parts right? Along with dial-up internet and late 90s video cards? You'll find out when you upgrade from Windows 98
*chuckles*You'll find out when you upgrade from Windows 98
Still have WIN 98 on an old laptop from the mid-90s. It's got a whole **48 MEGS!!** of Ram, but it still works unlike a few newer replacements. Rugged little sucker still good for older games that won't run on later Windows. That is still the most common OS around these parts right? Along with dial-up internet and late 90s video cards?
You can just leave your doors unlocked if you're security literate.UAC can be turned off. Its not particularly useful for someone who is computer literate.
If you're relying on UAC for security, you've already lost. You can just leave your doors unlocked if you're security literate.

That's all UAC is. Its also incredibly easy for a program, malicious or otherwise, to bypass it entirely without you ever knowing. If you're relying on a lock on a door for security you've already lost.
