if you use a credit or check card to pay for UO accounts, EA billing will do an annoying "pre-authorize" at least 4 days (possibly more) in advance of your actual billing date.
this, I assume, is a courtesy so they can find out if there will be a billing problem in advance so they can e-mail you and let you know.
the problem is, (and this may not be a problem for some people) it hits your bank account for the monthly fee like a week prior to the actual billing date.
the only way to avoid this is to opt-out by using a "loophole", canceling your account and reactivating it when it goes down.
I think this should be an opt-in for those who actually want this service. I don't know about the rest of you but I don't need EA checking on my bank account every day for a whole week prior to the billing date.
another oddity is that to activate an account, you actually need an extra $1 available because for some reason they hit your account with a $1 pre-auth, and if that happens to bring your balance below the monthly fee, you won't be able to activate your account. again, this is just silliness.
