(Player Event) ANNOUNCEMENT: Upcoming Luna House Design Contest 2015

So this is just a preliminary, draft thread announcing the upcoming Luna House Design Contest!!!

Over the next few months, players ought to buy, trade, or somehow place a house WITHIN THE WALLS of Luna City. Why, you ask??? Because I'm beginning a house design contest for 2015, only applicable to the houses WITHIN Luna city walls.

The rewards for winners of this house design will be FIFTY MILLION GOLD PIECES!!!!!!!!!

Did you hear that right??? Yes, you did, FIFTY MILLION GOLD PIECES!!!!!

The total prizes will be devied out among ALL contestants. 1st prize will get the largest prize, then 2nd, then 3rd, all the way down to last place. Last place will still get a small reward.


Now I will be developing this thread soon, announcing some other rules and regulations, as well as the intent and purpose of this contest in full.

Let's make Luna, and also Siege Perilous, the ABSOLUTE BEST shard on UO, no questions asked, no more doubts about it.

Only partially true....

While Luna plots can be expensive (between 5 mil to 20 mil), it depends on the time of the year. Many times the plots are sold cheaply. The problem is not expense inasmuch lack of interest. Many do not want to live in Luna, as you mentioned. This contest will be an incentive to live here. I mean, all you have to do to earn money is design a home. WOW!!! Nice........

It's easy.

Basically Luna is the first area new players to the shard explore. If a new player comes and sees Luna populated, good vendors, PKers spilling blood in the street, nice houses, then they will love to stay. And they will receive a great first impression of Siege. Especially if they're cut down during their first visit........ *Thumbs up!*

Let's turn the streets of Luna crimson with blood, amid a background of golden walls and beautiful rooftops.


Now is the time to move to Luna for anybody reluctant to do so.

However, I will mention a problem. A lot of houses inside Luna are unoccupied and abandoned. We need a way to pull these houses down, cause them to go IDOC. There has to be a way to do this, to cause some houses to collapse if not regularly maintained. I'm going to start a petition to the game developers or GMs or EMs, to do this kind of thing, for Luna only.

Don't hold your breath. The developers are not going to code in basically what ends up being zoning ordinances. They put in custom home design as an option. Some players may not like your design...should they have the right to "pull it down"? Nope.

While I like the idea of freshening Luna up, I don't like the idea of bringing PvP back to Luna. PvP should either be in towns (factions/VvV) or out in the wild.

Not sure if you were around during the days when Luna was active, but it used to be a bunch of house fighting and guard zone hugging.

As a thief and looter it was great since it concentrated the fights (players) close to a healer and bank, but the fighting part was pretty pitiful...la

I too dislike Luna, not sure why it draw more evil players than Zento, both towns are builded with player houses around the town center. I hope the players who go for the price will stay on Siege and not just place and build the house and then trade the mills back to their old shard and leave a ghost house, that will stay forever.

You are welcome to create your own Thief town elsewhere.

As of now, this contest will shift and change Luna accordingly. And it will help the shard overall as a whole as well. I wish you luck, on your ideals, to create a thief community elsewhere.

In regards to Luna PvP...I guess you'll just ignore the fact that the shard has "been there, done that". And for the most part it sucked.

That being said, I certainly wish you luck in your beautification project. I'm sure some of the residents will play...just don't be upset when the streets of Luna stay the dusty color they are now and have been since I returned...la

She's the one who suggested, FIRST, that people would abuse this contest to take gold back to their own shards...!!!! SHE IS TO BLAME HERE. Regardless of my classification. I think your original idea to rebuild Luna is with good intentions and I hope it is successful. I do believe, taking the high road in your responses and only focusing on the event will serve the effort better. Silent Singer offered some sound advise. You can always do the board battles in another post. Make it about the event.

I called 49% of vets asses. The other 51% is awesome. It's a delicate balance between good and evil.
