Please don't make this ugly or I will be in trouble for starting this thread.

Most of ya know I am a tamer and most of you know I can't PvP my way out of a paper bag. I have made a total of three player kills in my entire history in SP. So this is from where I am asking this question.

Righty and I used to spar and the first thing he would do is lead my pet around behind a house and then come back and squash me. If I had a GD, this was accomplished even faster as I would not be mounted while he was. The only time I stood head to toe with Krystal was since I took up archery, and that quickly stopped when I brought in my pet. What am I failing to do that makes all you other tamers such hell on wheels that these arguments even exists? I am not against tweaking taming at all, mind you. I just don't understand.

Ok let Bo get this straight, you are toast when your pet gets away from you. Hmm, why would you let your pet get away from then? Simple macros all follow me, all guard me, all kill hell you can even tie the last one in with a waitin for target, than last target marcos. Than you just have to stay alive while that person tries to kill, which isnt really difficult with the right temp.
Someone in another thread was crying about mystic mages, hell you could even stack that template with taming. So you would have a mystic mage tamer. Yay that is super dupery sweet.

i am pretty sure the complaints are against ppl who stealth up to others and pet ball their pet in and all kill. or chase after ppl while pet balling their pet to them.

I do not think there is any complaints about a pk hunting out a tamer pvm and attempting to kill them.

thx to all those that have killed me lately - it makes the game more fun to have to stay on your toes.

all kill, pet chases Righty around corner, Rightly gets it hung up on something and comes back to me, pet cannot hear me call it to come back to me, I am dead before I can get to it. Yeah, I know I suck. I don't need anyone here to tell me that.

What I am asking is what the tamers are doing that people hate so much as to call it unbalanced. Is it stealthers like Dog said? Is it that GD's can chomp for 50 like what was claimed in another thread?

Let's put players on a scale of 1-5 with 1 being the least skilled player in U.O and 5 being the most skilled players, now statistically only a small number of players are going to be a 1 player and only a few will be a 5 player (Standard deviation).

Using this model a 1 player doesn't know how to use a tamer to pvp yet players from 2-5 are all capable of abusing the overpowered nature of pets to some degree, you are a 1 player on this scale. Just because a few players don't understand how to abuse something overpowered doesn't mean the majority don't either.

TLDR:- You had bad Bushido archers in U.O back in the day also.

I think what people don't like is the fact that a tamer can dismount/all kill, moving shot spam after that while the dragon is still casting/biting/firebreathing its target.

the more recent tamer issue is with Dreadmares and one Bake Kitsune and Mystic/archer. Sleep spam and spell plague while the mare and bake are attacking you, bake can put rage on you thus interupting yoru ability to cast/heal. Or the archer and run up auto dismount the dreadmare, all kill/dismount you and follow it up with moving shots.

Alot of nasty combo's out there with a tamer that, if played correctly, can F you up.

Pets just hit way too ****ing hard. I haven't fought a greater dragon since I've been back, but about a year ago I clearly remember being hit for 70 from a firebreath, while I had all 70s on my suit. That is just way too much damage for a pet. You can be completely naked (3-4 years ago over half of the people fighting were naked tamers) and still get kills on fully suited people.

Now, adding in mountable death machines (mares and bane dragons) and pairing those with myst/magery or archery can easily make you a one man army.

You know, people always used to complain about runebeetle/bake/bola combos from naked tamers and such, but that is nothing compared to these greater drags and dreadmares. They did the exact opposite of what they should have done. Go EA!

@Mook - Some might call these pets "wild cards" but when half of the server is doing so (which used to be the case when we actually had people playing) it's not really a wildcard, its just gay. Do you agree? I know I, as well as many, many others, quit initially because we were tired of fighting nothing but tamers. After the last real PvPers (OTF) left, siege died.

When someone gets your pet stuck you need to know how to call it back to you. Pets in UO aren't fire and forget.
