An old scam returns players beware..

Not sure if this has been happening on other shards but the last couple of days theres been a player on Atlantic whose using an old scam to either make someone destroy there Crimmy or drop it on the ground this old scam involves them telling peeps they know of a bug that can put extra mods on there Crimmy. He first parties someone and begins to tell him he's so and so alt so seems he does abit of research on peeps guild members. He then tells you of the supposed bug which basically entails you putting your item in a wood crate and axing the crate now I havent fallen for this so not sure if this makes you destory your Crimmy or drop it on the ground. Just want to give everyone a heads up encase others dont know about this..

But yes, I agree, do not fix this... if people are that greedy that they are going to believe another player about a bug that will enhance something by destroying something (think about that one people) then you are dumber than you look.

It doesn't destroy it btw. It drops the contents of the crate onto the floor where you are stood. I use this method when I'm having trouble getting a chair or table in the place I want it in my house.

Like everyone else in the thread I believe the victim is at fault here. He should already know that UO is full of scammers and that the game won't do anything about them or any others that break the rules. They should know that when we throw the word community around it's really only to further our own agenda and we don't really give a rat's ass about others or their plights. It's perfectly ok for people to be screwed out of their hard earned belongings because they are too trusting of people or don't understand game mechanics. Yay UO!

Almost as funnny as the other one, where he tells you he has a script that helps you pvp. Then it drops your suit. If your that ignorant to fall for this you deserve to lose more then your crimson. Not only are you stupid but your trying to cheat at a 10+yr old video game.

Oh wait these days using scripts, speed boosts, and other "helpers" is allowed.

yea im almost a 100% sure it just makes it drop to the ground, this has happened in many ways over the last 3-4 years i know of, once happened to a guildy who was fairly new. they said they needed help transferin a box too full of stuff, so wanted help switchin it to diff chars, gave the over loaded chest to them switched chars then got her to take off the crimmy and try one of the othertokuno pcs i believe and soo as they take the crimmy of and try droppin in pack they are over wieght and to the ground it goes. hat happened years ago.

Actually if you use a bloodwood crate. It will transfer the properties. Get the scam right.

My point. If youre new or old and someone says you can tranfer properties by whacking crate....

Might the person just be like oh really let me see vs. it be they are honest or dishonest and labelling them.

Be careful though, if you lock the box with the key and then axe it - you lose the Dex +5 stat.

I've also heard if you put a transfer token in the box with the crimson it adds teleportation charges to it. One for each token. The tokens aren't destroyed so put alot in there.

I haven't tried it yet. If you are going to try it, let me know. I'd like to be there when you do. ICQ me and let me know what shard.

That particular scam has been going on on GL ....... The only reason I posted about it was because the Pr**k decided to try to get off using my NAME to a guildmate... This was a NO NO in my eyes... Don't like folk impersonating me.... so I went out of my way to shout about his scammer A** to the four winds.... Going so far as to follow him to brit, Luna and NewHaven giving everyone on the shard I could a heads up to the Dufas... At anyrate I'm not dumb enough to fall for his BS and I have no pity for anyone who does.... and finally if your willing to use a "bug/exploit" then you get what you deserve. Anyone claiming to "know" a bug or exploit and to "let you in" when you hardly know the fool is nothing but scum in the first place.... And certainly if it didn't take 6 hours to get a GM in game I would have paged on the jerk for claiming he knew one and was claiming he can use it... to which should get him Perma banned but we all know that being a scammer scum obviously pays off or they wouldn't do it... and they don't ban Scammers.... though they should.

Hey - Check this one out! I just found that for every 1 mil gold check you put in the box with the crimmy - it turns it a shade of yellow on the dye tub. However, if you put 12 or more - it turns it the paragon gold color just like the duped robes from before. Try it! Put at least 12 mil in gold checks in the box and hit it with an axe. Works great!
