An Iron Beetle Doesn't Trust Me?

Seems information on these critters is pretty scarce and even conflicting. Now that taming is no longer required to control an iron beetle a friend attempted to transfer one to me but I was told that the transfer could not go through because the pet would not trust me.

Any suggestions?

Any information on the mining abilities of these creatures?

Unless there has been something done that was NOT announced, the mining is more or less probably more of a bug than a feature.

*Shrug*

As to the non transfer, one might want to ask if this particular bug was tamed before the patch or after.

I think you also need to have mining skill to get it to trust you

The character attempting to receive the bug does have 100 mining but it was tamed before the change. I guess we will have to go tame some new ones. After that I guess I'll play around with some soul stones and see if I can learn anything from them. I just hope that the mining ability will be more than a curiosity after all this effort.....

I went and tamed one, meant to do that anyway for my Gatherer.

I had no problem transferring the Beetle to the Gatherer.

I have yet to see any information anywhere that indicates that these creatures are any use whatsoever to a miner.

My guess, as to how useful they are to Miners, would be to bring them along with you and they mine right behind you and they hit pretty hard so they could also help defend you w/ some training. I have yet to test this theory but I am also waiting until I manage to find a Val. colored one. I have picked up 10 or so Val. ore from the spawn area just from passing by so I assume a Val. Beetle mines Val. ore.

They don't come in different ore colors they eat the ore and become that color for a set amount of time.

I guess that would be why I keep seeing Shadow Beetles and also why I thought my eyes were playing tricks on me when I though I had tamed a Val one and took it out of the stable to find that it was Iron. Thanks for the heads up, no need to keep looking then lol. I will just give the one I have to my Miner then.
