Let's say for arguements sake, there is nothing wrong with armour and the system is fine the way it is.
Let's say all the properties of metal and wood are all perfect and it's real easy to get all 70's if you know what you are doing.
Now, let's say, that all 70's is not what we care about, that what we want is things like, mana regain, luck, lower regs, hit point regain, and medable armour.
The thing is we had this, but the resis was bad. Now, we have a way to fix resis but can't really do much more.
What should be done is, they should fix the menu. It's nowhere near a good way to list the armour. The menues are real bad in my opinion. Like, the axe list, should list all axes.
Another example: Let's say we could make bone armour and you could make basic bone like you find in cemetaries on skeletons. First off, name this set, skeleton bone under armour sets, so it's a skeleton bone armour set. Now, I open the list and see only the stuff that is part of this set. Now, make a list of what parts are in the set.
Bone helm, bone gorget
Bone chest, bone arms
Bone gloves, bone legs
Bone shield, bone sword
Bone earrings, bone talisman
Bone Bow, bone shoes
Bone crown, bone necklace
Bone ring, bone bracelet
Bone ribbed cloak, bone ribbed robe
Bone ribbed sash, bone ribbed apron
Now, let's take this and consider a complete set when all of your places to put things are filled with bone so the system will recognize, even if certain pieces are swapped out, such as the crown and helm or bow, shield and sword.
The old way of thinking is, if you are going to fight a scorpion, that you would want high poison resistance or if you had a certain template that required higher resistance, such as tree form. Now, we more so, want something that better fits our template but also aids us as much as possible.
One thing is skill advantage, like necro +5, spirit speak +5, passive med, swing speed, magery +5, lower regeant 99%.
Alot of other cool stuff could be added that would be necessary. Let's say, for an evil necromancer. To make it look good, so it blends with the robe, the robe cannot cover all of the other items. So, maybe a shredded robe.
Also, new features, like armour absorbtion, that was mentioned by someone else but use slayer types with the same type code. So, if bone armour was deamon slayer armour, the deamon would do half damage but would have the same affect of double damage towards you if the opposite slayer type were to do damage to you. This is based on physical attack not spell damage.
So, other types of suits that are created could benefit in different ways and protect you better against particular spawns.
So, this could be done with all the armour. For example: Leather, instead of it being called leather, you would name the suit, leather hide suit because it's primarily made from the hides of cows or animals. Then, you would have leather studded hide but instead of looking at them as individual pieces, they would be complete sets.
You could still use individual pieces and you could still imbue and enhance. Also, runics could be used to create the suit, to allow for the variations in resistance and material but, there could be added bonus of the skill and certain properties, so, that the imbuer would be able to create better suits.
