An armor for a warrior

I'm new to UO and I've got few questions about armor.

1. I see (on vendors) a lot of armor suits for a mage (with LRC/MI/MR) but have never seen an armor suit for a warrior (with HPI/SI/MI/LMC). What is the reason?

2. What is the better (cheapest) way to make a suit with HPI/SI/MI/LMC? How much resources may it need?

3. What is the difference between leather, ringmail and platemale armor for a warrior? Are there any reasons to use platemale? (May be durability?)

1. It is difficult to anticipate what resists a warrior will need on their armor piece to pair with the attributes you listed. As such most people will not imbue single pieces to sell on a vendor. Mages don't need to hit 95 fire resist (many warriors are in vamp form) so the spread on pieces doesn't need to be as perfectly suited to get them close to all 70's in resist.

2. Are you trying for any particular resist spread? I wear mace and shield glasses, but if you can't afford those yet you can choose something else like the ancient samurai helm. I then craft a bunch of barbed leather pieces until I have five that can be imbued with one (or two if necessary) resists to get close to 70-95-70-70-70. If you're not going to go into vamp form you can do this much more easily. You would then want to imbue LMC first on each piece to save relic frags (120 imbuer won't fail on that first imbue). HPI, SI, and MI all take enchanted essence so I'd do that next, then your one resist imbue last. If you're going to spend the relics and essence of order to do LMC I would recommend using Powder of Fortification to maximize durability prior to imbuing.

3. The maximum resist that can be imbued is different on the various armor types (http://vboards.stratics.com/uo-craftsman/221585-maximum-imbuable-resists-per-armor-category.html) I believe you can get slightly higher base resist out of your suit by going with metal over leather, but it should be noted you can get even higher base resists by going with wood (but have to be an elf or wear faction earrings to equip).

One more tip on #2 - for pieces that only require residue and enchanted essence for their imbues I have skipped using PoF in the past, or only use it to take durability to ~75. The piece(s) wear out faster, but re-crafting them costs less than opportunity cost of the PoF.

Thank you.

I haven't much gold but I have some ingredients:
Void Orb, Void Essence, Slith Tongue, Toxic Venom Sac, Boura Pelt, Raptor Teeth, Silver Serpent Venom, Reflective Wolf Eye, Crystalline Black Rock, Undying Flesh, Lava Serpent Crust, Silver Snake Skin.

The total amount is 300. I know that prices are different on different shards but could you say me what (roughly) could I have got for that ingredients? Or how much such ingredients I need to get mace and shield glasses and wooden armor (70/70/70/70/75 LMC/HPI/SI/MI)?

There is no apparent advantage to platemail but it does have a disadvantage that it requires a higher strength to use it and it weighs more. The armor you use depends somewhat on what you intend to do and tactics you intend to use. Max HPI MI SI all require 10 luminescent fungi , max LMC requires 5 relic fragments so you would want to imbue that first. Here is a link to a table with all the ingredients required. If you can get the forge tools it makes the whole process less time consuming and costly. I haven't tried to imbue an all 70's suit till recently. It's not too hard. What I did is to make a bunch of plain leather parts with a tailor looking for parts that have 2 low resists which would be the resists to imbue. Powder it up to where you want it. You add up the resists and figure out how much enhancing will add to it then imbue what you need to get all 70's and add the other proerties although you may want to add the other properties first depending on if they need relic fragments or not. Do the imbues and then enhance using the forge tool otherwise you will have to make more, powder up more, imbue more and enhance more as some will break. Max resist imbues require 10 boura pelts per imbue

Assuming you turn in gold for your mace & shield glasses (from Warrior - also accepts bucklers and battle axes at 9 points each) it will take 12,000,000 gold. If you turn-in battle axes you can probably do it for 3 to 4,000,000. You're likely to get carpal tunnel syndrome from doing that legitimately though.

I suspect you will have the most luck selling crystalline blackrock, void orbs, and raptor teeth. If you can handle the fire temple ruins (essence of order) and passage of tears (essence of singularity) I've often found players needing those will pay 400k to 500k per 10.

As another suggestion, I would recommend doing the percolem the hunter quests. When you get to tier 2 make sure to do boura, boura, and more boura every day (or at whatever interval it's available). You'll get 20 boura pelts and 440 horned leather (skin and cut up the leather from each kill) just from the kills. A Bovine Slayer talisman is very helpful for this quest. The reward bag has 10 enchanted essence, some gold, and some gems. It also has a book that will be worth either 100 or 200 points in the clean up turn-in that will be turned on soon. You could sell these books to other players who are trying to accumulate points or turn them in yourself. Once you get to tier 3 (and assuming you can complete those quests) the reward includes a relic fragment each time.

It seems on Europa everyone must have own crafter to get something...
At which level of skill an imbuer (with 10k loyalty) can be useful for something else beside "70 res all 100%lrc suit"?

At approximately 85 imbuing I made myself a nice throw away suit for a warrior. I didn't imbue anything at 100% intensity, but had 70-95-63-70-70 for resists with some HPI and SI on it. I believe I had to imbue a resist onto one of my jewels. I then used the character to farm miasma for weapons to unravel, the SA mini champs for essences, and the cavern of discarded for other stuff. After my imbuing was 100+ from unravels I finished it off doing luck and lrc imbues onto exceptional jingasas.

In retrospect, depending on what I intended to fight I could have made a much better suit. I wanted 95 fire resist for vamp form, but if I was only fighting miasma or creatures that didn't do fire damage / cast spells I could have saved my most expensive imbues.

Note - my definition of a throw away suit is one that hasn't had PoF applied, has no 100% intensity imbues, and did not take relic fragments to create. You can get some good usage out of these and then discard when the durability gets too low.

Is it true:
A tailor with GM Arms Lore can create a horned/barbed leather suit that is 70/70/70/70/75 with just one 13% imbue per piece. And it's possible to imbue other 4 mods on every part of this armor.

On plate armor: This issue comes up periodically. I have posted on it several times. UO Guide's articles on Barbed Runic Kits and Valorite Runic Hammers suggest that it's possible to get armor from the hammer that surpasses what you can get from the kit. Further, if you count Samurai Plate as "plate," then you have mage armor as a free, not counted property, and can get the better mods plus meddability.

Further if you look at how armor developed there's less fictional reason than you may think for plate to be better than leather in the UO world. (That's the part I've posted about most extensively.)

There is also a post about someone creating a Sampire suit made all out of plate, here on these very forum. He had a nice journey and he was very courteous to post it for us.

And then there's the awesomeness that is Corgul's Helm. That's a great helm and its older but less useful brother, the Helm of Insight, is pretty neat too. Add a Jackal's Collar and Heart of the Lion and maybe it's worth Imbuing the other pieces as plate just for the awesomeness!

Having said that, most people clearly choose to not use plate. (I'm one of them; makes considerably more RP sense for my character to use leather.) Don't know what to tell you. Armor preferences changed IRL too.

(And further, of course there's the issue that barbed kits are way more common than are valorite hammers, which in theory are so rare that if you see more than 1 on a vendor they are likely duped, or so implied a previous community person we had. I am aware of that and am aware that in and of itself it's a good enough reason more people use barbed kits.)

I have proposed having a PvM-only damage absorption for having an entire suit of non-meddable armor in order to make all forms of non-meddable armor more desirable.

It's become typical for people to trash me when I say these things. *shrugs*

On why there aren't as many pre-made warrior suits: I don't know. I do know that I do see them on GL, just not as often as I see pre-made mage suits. But on GL pre-made warrior suits aren't entirely unheard of. I bought a couple a few months back in order to have a pre-made suit in the event that I make another new character. (Unlikely event but possible.)

I just made an all 70's suiit and realized afterwards my mistake of not stoning on arms lore prior. Big oops but it turned out ok it was for a smith/imbuer not a warrior or mage.
