Hey everyone. I'm thinking about opening a UO account again. See I played in late 97 and kept on playing until about 99 when I quit to play EQ and some other things. I've since been out of the MMO game and am thinking about starting up a UO account. About two years ago I got back on UO for a while and enjoyed my time in game, but I have some reservations.

What's the economy like? I hear everything is pretty much shot.

What's the state of Stratics and their information on various skills? I don't want to have to rely on faulty information or, worse yet, no information.

What's the state of shard populations? I like having folks around to interact with on occasion.

I'd appreciate any help y'all could provide.

The shard is bustling. So you will find plenty of folks to interact with. There are some very good guilds if you are looking for people to join up with. Just traveling about you will run into people to hunt along side you if wish. Most folks are very friendly, but as in everything there are a few...

The economy is still out of whack. With the runic changes though good armor can be made a bit easier. Don't discount the older arties for starting out. Heart of the Lion, etc, can still be had by knocking down enough para's.
You aren't going to be the leetest, (is that a word?), just starting out. But you can have a ton of fun playing. Ps..shop outside of Luna.

Stratics is still being recovered. It is a slow process, but hopefully the professions forums will be back shortly. But if you have any questions about various skills and gains ask on the Questions and Answers forums. Alot of folks who made the professions FAQ's watch that forum to answer questions peeps have. You can also check out UO Guide for information about the game. It is a very good guide to all things UO.

Stratics is pretty much shot... apparently some drunken elder tripped over the extension cord to the servers and crashed the whole deal. Later they found out that all the money that was supposed to go towards backing up the system ended up being spent on strippers and call girls. Least that's what I heard.

*Hic* I've always wondered how slanderous fictions get started!

The info on the main stratics website is still complete - although somewhat nostalgic in content... As a general rule, if the info is there, it is probably 90% up to date. But a lot of the newer content (data on ML monsters, etc) have never been fully update.

The recovery of the lost forum information is currently being integrated into the new forum board, but as stratics covers many games, this is a time consuming process. I hate to use the EA trademark, but you should see the original post-data start filtering in "soon". lol

As far as getting updated info, there are tons of helpful people all over the Atlantic Shard and many lurk here on the forum regularly. Ask around for whatever info you need and many will be happy to provide details or a link.
