I appreciate the PC but I believe your constant accusations of items being duped without any proof is one of the main things hurting this market atm. I've talked with several people and even messaged fencers trying to find out if anyone else can get this item and I haven't had any luck. So based on all the information I've accumulated I'm inclined to believe that this item is in fact NOT duped.
If I'm in fact wrong then I would appreciate some type of proof and I will then lower my asking price to the appropriate level because I would much rather Not own any dupes.
I would probably have to doubt that items is duped simply because the desirability and demand for it is rather low. The fact that it's normal hued, has no mods, is not visually unique, and not distinguishable from any normal golden scepter probably deemed it as not worth the time to dupe by most dupers when their valuable duping slots and time could be put towards fast selling artifacts, modded event items, shrouds, specially hued items, and other such trinkets that can be fenced quickly.
While this duping accusations is surely at an all time high, it's not without merit. Almost everything has been duped whether people want to believe it or not and as always, unless you personally were issued a one of a kind item by a GM/EM on only one unique shard then chances are someone somewhere along the line duped, loaned it to a duper for profit and a spare copy, or sold it to a duper for good money before you got your hands on it thinking it was still unique.
I mean look at nails' collection. For all we know since only he owned those items he could have lent access to dupers when he was desperate for cash to make copies of his items for $$$ down payment and a copy of everything to keep for himself in private storage as to not lose the work he's spent collecting over the years. Not to say that's what happened, but if "ring" claims he didn't do it and paul claims he bought the "unique" items from nails then it would lead one to think that nails was somehow involved in the big picture.
But -nothing- is safe from duping. Real life profits from this game have made this game highly profitable to partake in illegal actions if you were not smart enough to do it legit (which is a huge majority of the playerbase). Whether it was capitalizing in selling changeling items like a major collector on LS did, selling out and lending your entire collection to dupers like marion did (not an accusation, simply self incriminating apology you can find on TS), or simply hopping on the bandwagon stashing up tons of glacial and ethy items to sell for mark-up value at a later date, lots of people are at fault.
Even nowadays the once respected rares community is in shambles because so many of us are now desensitized by the ongoing duping and the lack of action by EA to stop it. Many people are simply just not caring if something is duped or not anymore, there's no distinguishable difference between them, it now can't be proven, and one can simply claim they own one of the legit ones and no one would be able to dispute it.
I for one simply just won't be collecting rares anymore due to the fact that this used to be the only thing in the game I could be proud of being a part of. Collecting the rarest and most unique gear to wear was my hobby, wheeling and dealing to afford the next nicest thing on my -want- list without having to worry about if there's 500 copies of it in a bag somewhere. Rare collecting is dead for the legit players and is now the second best profit margin market for dupers coming right behind Runics. People just don't give a crap anymore who they buy their items from and if it's legit or not, they want it and they want it cheap. Grats dupers, you win and the rares community does nothing to stop it but instead, helps fuel your greed and income.
I have no idea where this post started and ended but my rants against dupers ruining my only hobby in the game is getting more and more lengthy. I don't even know why I bothered reactivating, I figured the vine cord deletion was some glimmer of hope for the game but apparently that's not even scratching the surface of how bad the duping has gotten and I'm only just now seeing how ******** and out of control the situation is.
