All Change on the Front Page

Some people may have noticed a slight change to the left and right menu lists this week, other updates include:

  • A new section of the item database: Quests The data base is searchable, so if you've got a quest item and you don't know which quest it fits in, or you want an item that is a quest reward you can look it up.
Please be patient, this section is only just started and incomplete as yet. Creating transparent background gifs for each item is time consuming.

  • A number of items in the 'miscellaneous' section have been updated:
  • Also updated Tactics (thanks for the alert, Connor)
  • Expanded The Strange Plants page from last week, additional information by kittykat.

More help is needed, there's still a lot to do. Please send submissions to [email protected], [email protected], or if you just want to say 'this page needs updating' send a pm to Petra Fyde.
Help us win the race to get it up to date before Stygian Abyss arrives!

hmm, 86 reads, but no replies, it's that uninteresting and boring? Should I stop informing people of what changes have been made?

Thanks for doing the updates and keeping us up-to-date on whats going on.
The front page looks a lot more organized and clean than it did before, its much easier now to find what I'm looking for, and seems more like something that I want to do at uo.stratics, rather than a hassle. If I find anything that needs updating, I'll let you know.
Sorry for the long post, but I had a random idea I wanted to share...sorry if someone has already thought of something like it, I haven't seen it and if so I dont mean to copy or bring up something that may have been shot down already.

How hard would it be to do reviews on item prices in Luna for some of the different shards? I know some places charge outrageous amounts for things...if we could get something like a price check...not to rate different vendor houses!...but to rate how well a type of item is priced in Luna in general. This would be partially based off how well an item is selling at what price for a given week... Arties for example. You may see a katrina's crook priced 1m at one vendor and at another its 500k. I know a lot of people sell things based on what the item is priced in Luna, if they're selling outside of Luna (*not talking about the big vendor houses outside of Luna*).
If we could get someone or two that dont have any stake in gold selling sites, etc. maybe we could beat out some of the dupers and whatnot by forcing their prices down to what they should be. If people could have a trusted source to tell them that...no, that katrinas crook is absolutely not worth 5m(a random number I came up with)...I think it would help alot.
Another example could be the blackrock. Since its in high demand now, the higher prices in Luna (and possibly elsewhere, I haven't looked) do seem fair.

I wouldn't even begin to be able to tell anyone what they should pay for 1k in leather or whatever because what your time is worth in gathering leather may be different than someone else's and that is usually (or should be) what the price is based off of. Its a thin line...on one hand you could be seen as telling people what they should have to price something at and on the other you could be helping a lot of people by letting them know what absolutely is an outrageous price for something.

If it was done just right, it could force rental fees to go down as well. I cant see anyone actually going out of business because of this, but some may not make as much as they were because people would smarten up as to how much constitutes gouging. Over time, the prices on vendors and vendor rentals and everything else should even out.

I dont think you would have to check every single item in being sold in Luna. And of course, the item prices will fluctuate. Maybe just a few goods items, some arties.
I'm kind of hoping someone someday will come along and make a scale for jewls and stuff to tell me how much gp to subtract for each thing they're missing :p
Hrmmm...I don't know, just a random thought, and probably not going to be a very popular one at that.

:coco: I hope all of that makes sense.

I put the idea in here because I thought that Petra and anyone else working on the main site might have a better idea as to what kind of organization and time it would take, and whether it might be a good idea or not.

It's an interesting idea, Mairut, however I've a feeling it would be a rather time consuming project.
I'm always concious that people are paying to access the client and don't feel I can ask them to give over an extensive amount of their playing time in researching information for Stratics. It feels a bit like saying 'yes, I know you've paid $# to access the basket ball court, but while you're there can you wax the floor for me please?'

Lol @ comparison. Thanks for the input..
I do agree that it would be time consuming. If I was better (or any good at all)at pricing items I would definitely do it. Trust me though, thats not something anyone would want me doing :p
Maybe someday eh?

And again, lovely job on the website everyone :D
