Aha, found out what the huge problem with SA graphics is.

There's no contrast.

Everything blends together and it's hard to differentiate between distinct items/creatures/entities.
Monsters kind of fade into the scenery since there's no real contrast.
Spell effects are largely indistinguishable since they tend to be bright bubbles of color.


So... need more contrast.




... now which parts of this post are the most noticeable, and which parts blend together?

Hmm it is hard to get this into a 3d engine, maybe cell shading is an option here. The orginal client uses this to declare clear borders between items and monsters.
