back to UO.
Lotta eye candy but gameplay was a real letdown.

The new Diablo interface in some strange way reminds me of Pinco's UI.If you hate item properties in UO, this is not your game.
It's easy; take the time you would be playing UO, and play the other gameWow u guys and gals have time to play other games too.....Jeeze!!! i want out of this real work thing iam in!!!!
Maybe because Pinco's UI gives you the option to display Diablo-like health and mana orbs? lol the Diablo series was definitely an influence on the kit.The new Diablo interface in some strange way reminds me of Pinco's UI.
Personally, I can't stand the Diablo health/mana orbs.Maybe because Pinco's UI gives you the option to display Diablo-like health and mana orbs? lol the Diablo series was definitely an influence on the kit.
I find it strange none of you are talking about how DIII is, in fact, in the third dimension. DII was grid-based, like UO. That has to be enjoyable, no?
I won't look into DIII until they add arenas (PvP), but even then, I did it all in DII. PvMing to LVL 99 and getting the best items again? Been there, done that. Also seems like the game is "too easy," from what my friends told me during Beta and from what you all are saying now. I guess nothing changed.
Now's a good time to note the original Dragon Age is under $20. Definitely worth it.
I remember back when I played diablo 2 "hammerdins" could really do everything and use "veangence" without ever touching a potion really. Reaching block cap and using enigma runeword to teleport all over... The game was/is very easy to beat. it got to the point where I was just playing to pvp in act 1 or give free "RUSHES".Personally, I can't stand the Diablo health/mana orbs.
The 3D graphics adds nice effects while traveling, seeing things moving in the background. The overall effect is very nice.
But as your friends told you, compared to UO it is too easy - the very same thing I was thinking this weekend while running through the Abyss looking for stealables. The average dungeon in UO is more difficult than almost any of Diablo. I used one restore health potion in all of Act I, only one potion so far in Act II, only had to run to safety once. You only get in trouble if you let yourself get overrun with mobs. There is very very little strategy at all to any of the combats.
I would still recommend playing DIII just for the graphics, the UI, and the awesome storytelling. I think UO could learn something from the storytelling in Diablo and Skyrim. Overall crafting and game play in DIII... meh, doesn't hold a candle to UO.
Great i willl throw my 3-4 hours gameplay time a week at it then.......Next life iam coming back as a 24/7 game geekIt's easy; take the time you would be playing UO, and play the other game![]()
This isn't necessarily true. The first Diablo game was released prior to UO and the franchise has remained true to form in all 3 games with some evolution. UO's item properties and their involvement in many aspects of gameplay, most notably PvP and PvE, have gone through much more drastic changes. If you hate item properties in UO, this is not your game.
On normal mode, if you ramp up the DPS and vitality, it's very easy to be way ahead of the monsters. I mean really far ahead, to the point that mobs with 15+ monsters barely get your life down 20% I think I stopped dying after level 23 when I finally stopped focusing on magic/gold find and just upped the DPS and vitality.I won't look into DIII until they add arenas (PvP), but even then, I did it all in DII. PvMing to LVL 99 and getting the best items again? Been there, done that. Also seems like the game is "too easy," from what my friends told me during Beta and from what you all are saying now. They just canceled Dragon Age Legends, the Facebook game, and supposedly Dragon Age III was delayed due to that team working on Star Wars: The Old Republic, so it's good they are trying to get people interested in it.Now's a good time to note the original Dragon Age is under $20. The thing is that UO's interface is customizable for the EC. You can make the EC's interface look like the CC, but nobody has chosen to do so.i think if UO were to follow in the foot steps of some of the other well known mmos such as WoW, Aion Online, Diablo 2 and others with a similar kind of layout I don't think it would be the UO that we all came to love and enjoy playing throughout the years. There are things that are messed up in the game but for the most part it seperates itself from others because of it's uniquely designed playstyle. Personally I just can't wait for a game to come out that doesn't have the exact.. same... boring layout as most of the other really popular mmo games out there. A lot of people enjoy playing classic client still and i've never understood why after all these years people with that client can't make the UO window larger. That there is imo a pretty big deal since large flat screen monitors are getting cheaper everyday.
Did you play the first two games? Were you expecting something else?Diablo is pretty much hack-n-slash or cast spell - cast spell - cast spell... rinse and repeat. It has NO replay value for me, but you know, it is still fun for a short diversion. But one more week and I'll be done with both Normal and Hell levels.
Still nothing out there to compare to UO.
They tried that, remember Age Of Shadows? It's the reason we have this desaster of an items/resists system we have now.i think if UO were to follow in the foot steps of some of the other well known mmos such as WoW, Aion Online, Diablo 2 and others with a similar kind of layout I don't think it would be the UO that we all came to love and enjoy playing throughout the years.
It's true from the point of view of the spreadsheet warriors who crunch numbers to squeeze out every last bit of properties they can. This isn't necessarily true. I'm definitely a fan of buying three great games for $20 each rather than taking my chances for $60 on a game built around little else but hype, especially since I played DII to death and only played pretty much because all my friends hyped it up. I dont think the D-series was ever as fun solo as it was multi, but there were hardly the same choices available then as we have now. Besides, I need to save up for a Wii U, lol mostly kidding...but oh man, finally, like ten million years later, we'll be able to play poker, choose Madden plays, etc., straight from our controller screens. If only the creators of Vegas Stakes could make a Wii U title. They just canceled Dragon Age Legends, the Facebook game, and supposedly Dragon Age III was delayed due to that team working on Star Wars: The Old Republic, so it's good they are trying to get people interested in it.
just think if uo popped that style action house, more peeps would be playing to sell armour weapons from new dungeons etc!!!!!!!!!!!!!!It's true from the point of view of the spreadsheet warriors who crunch numbers to squeeze out every last bit of properties they can.
Like I said, the moment I find myself falling into that trap, I'm done with D3. So far I've avoided it by limiting my time in the Auction House as much as possible.
I'm glad nobody is complaining about the always on requirements. Somebody that I played with this weekend was complaining about. This was after they told me how much time they spent in the AH (a lot). I told them that if they weren't connected to the internet, then AH would not work, and a lot of people complaining seem to be missing that aspect. The AH is a major component of D3, and there's no getting around the internet connection for it.
Depends on the genre you're looking for. It's hard to find a great single-player game that runs on Vista/7 without help and costs under $20. You look at most of them and go, omg...2006 graphics suck ;D...then go back to UO: CC and you're like...what? Hahaha. I'm derailing this thread, but if anyone has a great modern game for under $20, link me up, hahaa.
The problem is that the D3 model applies to all of D3 and Blizzard is much more serious about scripters/farmers.just think if uo popped that style action house, more peeps would be playing to sell armour weapons from new dungeons etc!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
that is a major missing factor in uo !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
no reason cant be in game esp if u look at d3 and how it is handled a item based game!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I was going to get Plants vs. Zombies for $3 when it went on sale but I forgot about it! ;P (via Steam). Yeah, I'm thrifty, lol.Have a gander at Steam Sales, Specials, and Price Drops.
It covers titles that are reduced on Steam, GOG, D2D and a bunch of others, and lets you filter games by min/max price.
i was only thinking of in game auction for gold for items searchableThe problem is that the D3 model applies to all of D3 and Blizzard is much more serious about scripters/farmers.
I would be more inclined to support a Warcraft-style Auction House, where it's confined to just that server and you have to show up in person, if only to bring people together, and to break the grasp the illegal search sites are allowed to have. If EA isn't going to make an attempt to shut down the scripters, they could at least undermine them by offering an in-game auction house.
Speaking of the scripters, if they did this to UO, they'd have to deal with the fact that it's extremely easy to script/farm/exploit certain areas, and that if they did an AH that encompassed all of UO, the exploiters/scripters would be able to script the hell out of the lesser populated shards and would no longer have to pay for transfers since things farmed on a lesser populated shard could easily be sold to people on say Atlantic or LS. It would radically transform the economy from the point of view that gold or items would cost the same on any shard.
Yes, it would raise revenue for UO since UO would get a cut of the real-money sales, but unless they first dealt with the scripters/exploiters, they open themselves up to condoning/supporting the scripters/exploiters.
One interesting aspect - a centralized auction house in UO could be used to check for dupes and delete them if they come up for auction.
That is one of the ways in which Blizzard is hoping to counter the farmers.and a auction house could be limited to like 10 items per account at a time![]()
they need to find somethingThat is one of the ways in which Blizzard is hoping to counter the farmers.
But just imagine an auction house in UO limited to 10 items. Enough people would pancake that it wouldn't stay at 10.
And I agree the economy is screwed up. Who knows, a global auction house would make things interesting, but I think they should still limit anything like that to a per-shard AH.
I paid around £2.00 for Plants v Zombies and played it to death lol, excellent fun and regularly back on offer. There's a game called Mount & Blade on Steam too, excellent single player game and the mounted combat is simply amazing, might be worth a look.I was going to get Plants vs. Zombies for $3 when it went on sale but I forgot about it! ;P (via Steam). They didn't phone it on content - if you actually do everything and follow the story and don't ignore the dialogue and the journals, it's a very rich history they built up for D3.Just like with Starcraft 2, Blizzard knows they can sell a boatload of copies just to the diehard fans of the franchise so they phone it in on content and replayability. After one nite, the game is beaten and I am left wanting my money back, just like all Blizzard games in the past 10 years... UO fo life foooooooo!
I just have to ask? if you knew blzzard would "phone it in" why did you buy it?Just like with Starcraft 2, Blizzard knows they can sell a boatload of copies just to the diehard fans of the franchise so they phone it in on content and replayability. ...never said i bought it hehe.I just have to ask? if you knew blzzard would "phone it in" why did you buy it?
Amen! I played Mount & Blade, effing LOVED it. It was introduced to me as "what UO could be if they actually cared about the game". I kind of agree. Have yet to try any mods for the AI in it, but they sure is dumb!I paid around £2.00 for Plants v Zombies and played it to death lol, excellent fun and regularly back on offer. Aye that was it! It was Warband that I played, the mods are definately worth a look too, one called Prophecy of Pendor is definately worth checking out, it changes the game completely and is very polished (much, MUCH harder too hehe).Amen! They released "Warband" expansion/stand alone for that series. Same exact idea as the first, just more land and....2? new classes. Still very fun.
A turn-based game that is extremely addictive, King Arthur: Role playing game. Think its under 10$ on Steam as well, definatly worth it.
Hasn't been around in a few weeks, but I wonder if he'll chime in on this thread?Diablo III release date May 15. You can pre-order on Amazon.
i decided to that with this life, as im not too convinced im getting another life. But on the chance that i do, well than i will work that life and play this one thanks!Great i willl throw my 3-4 hours gameplay time a week at it then.......Next life iam coming back as a 24/7 game geek
How do you play UO at all if you only have 3-4 hours a week to game play? You spend at least 4 hours a week crying about stuff and whining on stratics....Great i willl throw my 3-4 hours gameplay time a week at it then.......Next life iam coming back as a 24/7 game geek
I missed your intention that actually 4 skilled people in uo could do anything, but still take 4 people to even try to get the keys to a shimmering eff, and then you could try to kill it, it will take a while and before you get the right set up youll die plenty. After a while you could get the right team but its not that easy, and so its most of the smaller champs from the ilshenar expansion. My main in D3 is 54 witch doc, so I'm on hell difficulty act 1, even with 4 players the elite mobs are super hard, killing our entire party multiple times, I cannnot even imagine how hard inferno is. I have yet to find content in UO that could not be killed by 4 or less skilled pvm players.
Diablo is Diablo. They aren't going to change the formula much because it's a successful formula that lets casual players have an RP romp in single-player, and offers some level of multi-player interaction. Even Blizzard doesn't expect it will replace WoW... but as many of have said, offer a diversion to it.back to UO.
Lotta eye candy but gameplay was a real letdown.
Quite simple and iam guessing what most people do!!!! i can whinge at work on here.....BUT i cant play uo at work.......How do you play UO at all if you only have 3-4 hours a week to game play? You spend at least 4 hours a week crying about stuff and whining on stratics....
