advice on template

Hello Seige players. I have made the decision to start playing seige. Seige has always been attractive to me since the trammel ruleset. In other words, this is a long time coming. Unfortunately, I have been "softned", so to speak, by playing on a trammel shard. I would like some advice on my template of choice. If anyone would like to make trades to further my character on Seige, I would be glad to offer gold or other items on Europa. Thanks for your time.

I have decided to play a gargoyal battle mage.

120 Magery, 120 swords, 100 meditation, 120 eval int, 120 magic resist, 120 tactics.

not sure on the stats.. probably on the lower end of intel

Str 100
Dex 100
Int 55

Hello Ivor,

Several days ago I joined Siege to play a gargoyle. Prior to that I had not played UO for years, so I cannot give you consistent template advice, but I can share some observations on gargoyles and Siege:

- melee+spell hybrid seems to fit well a gargoyle on Siege, as low health gives bonus to both SDI and DI, and on Siege you cannot max these two on an ensured suit. So from that perspective your magery+tactics template has some potential for fun..

- it is fun to have Focus on a gargoyle, because then you can make use of Healing Stone and Enchant. On Siege the 1fc and spell channeling on your weapon might make your hybrid template cheaper to maintain.

- as you already have more than 80 dex, and as on Siege you are never too protected, you might consider parry. That would also make your special moves cheaper on mana.

Hope to see you soon on Siege.

Thanks for your advice.

After having read a little more I believe I have found my final template:

120 swords, 120 magery, 100 tactics, 120 focus, 120 mystic, 120 ei.

Str 125, dex 80, int 50. (not exactly sure on my final stats)

My character will definately have some trouble in pvp without magic resist. However, my playstyle is to pvm with groups of adventurers, but be able to assist in fighting off pks. I definately wont be soloing anything overly difficult, but my goal is to be a battle mage and assist my fellow adventureers from behind the line of fight, while at the same time being able to strike down beasts with my faster casting sword that get too close.

Obtaining 120 scrolls will definately be the challange. Till I can, I will probably stick the remaining skills into meditation.

So far I have found it helpful to roam around the Moonglow area for regeants on the floors to fuel my casting on mongbats. The mongbats provide me with just enough gold to continue buying regeants. However, I am trying to find a lrc suit and am having the hardest time locating reasonable vendors. Any tips on this would be really helpful. Also, when is prime time on seige?

It seems like you're all over the place on your template- might wanna consider dropping magery for anatomy/healing or swords for med or anatomy depending on if you plan on being hit or wanna prepare for it, and then using a mage weapon if you wanna still swing at the enemy; since my understand of myst is it doesn't use eval- I could be wrong. In either case focus is key and using a weapon AND two magics isn't very focused.

PS- you type a lot like a Mac I knew on Kil'Jaedin in RoKK (the fact that you sign your name a the bottom and decided to use the face drinking beer) Seems unlikely, but I figured I might as well ax you.

Nope, that is not me. I am from Catskills during the old role playing days when ShadowClan Orcs, Undead, Free Corps, and Celts had it out in Yew.

Also, as for being all over the place template wise. You are right, *laughs*. The truth is I do not know diddly about a mage template, be it mysticism, spellweaving, or plain magery. I think I will stick with what I know best, the sword, shield, and poison :gee:

Anyhow, to the pks on seige, if you see a half-naked Celt running around drunk and hitting mongbats over the head, be kind enough to leave the ale on his corpse.

Ivor, have you discovered Siege's General chat channel yet? If not, you might want to check it out. (If you're in the Classic Client, just hit the Chat button on the Menu bar and join the General chat channel. Then use the comma key to actually type something in the chat channel. Not quite sure anymore how you select and type in a chat channel in the Enhanced client.)

And apologies if you know all this already from playing on Europa! We just want to make sure you join the fun!
