Advice 4 anyone taking a break from UO?= Houses decay in 90 days 'PERIOD'

But I still find it sooo hard.. nooo unbelievable this still happens daily!!

When anyone is taking a break from UO for god sake stash your best items, ya soulstones,ya gold, ya treasures in ya xxxxing Bank boxes!!!!

YOUR HOUSE DECAYS AFTER 90 DAYS OF BEING INACTIVE ACCOUNT AND ALL YOUR ITEMS INSIDE WILL FALL TO GROUND FOR ANYONE TO TAKE!!!!!PERIOD.

THP may not use the most diplomatic of phrasing, but he's right in that there are frequent posts saying 'did anyone pick up my soulstones, the house was at...'
If I read an 'I'm quitting' post I will usually advise banking soulstones, just in case.

You really are a simple person....sooo many posts there as been about peeps trying to recover stuff and they didnt know there house would fall etc etc...stop being so greedy...there will still be normal idoc fallers...hell i hate to see big fallers especailly old freinds in game..and yes i do icq peeps or mail peeps who have houses that are in decay that i know or have contact with or have had contact with!!! so grow up SevenFaith....grow up!!

It may be genuine advice, but you have the rudest, most condescending way of saying things, that it angers me.

I'm not really sure if your comments actually help people, but it's nice that you think they do. Maybe if you spent a little more time putting your thoughts together in your posts, and a little less time looking for idocs UO would be a better place.

I for one think THP is offering good all round advice here, it may be obvious to most, but I agree, there are way to many posts from people looking for SoulStones etc.

I do not know THP very well, only spoken to him on occasion (he helped me place a Castle - yay), but on the whole find him a helpful and agreable member of the UO community. Yes he does do well at IDOC's, he knows where they all are. I can only assume to do this he either:

a. Has inside knowledge of IDOC locations via EA or a sexy script, this script will find the IDOC's camp them, place at them and even engage in polite conversions with other IDOC peeps.

or

b. Spend MANY hours wandering the lands, staring at crumbling house signs, marking runes, learning the physics of UO (decay rates), paying for holding accounts.

I'm guessing he uses option B!


Sorry if I sound like it's "HUG THP DAY", but seriosly, this Guy is good at what he does, is very helpful when seeking help with plots. But still some people feel they have to slate him at any opertunity, even when he posts a Helpful Post.

i wasn't reffering of his simpathy or even the way he gets to find the idocs... cuz to be honest script or not i couldn't care less...

i even don't care when he posts about idocs cuz they are in fel and we ( god guild + others reds ) come and kill them all, thats not the point

what i meant was that he posted as many posts as those who asked for those soulstones, not always politely ( i remember a certain thread ), while i think all those people know that houses fall in 90 days, and they are not thinking " oh noes i forgot to refresh or bank my items ". In fact, most of those people were not thinking of coming back, even if i agree that soulstone should be banked cuz we never know if we return or not.

that being said, i dont think people mean " i forgot to bank them or forgot to refresh my house ", but simply ask if any people loot them just in case, as i know a guild that loot soulstones from idocs in case someone ask for them back. the people losing their soulstones dont regret it, they are just wondering.

Again, thp may be a cool guy, he may be helpful and kind and all that you want, the fact remains that i think that his repeatedly posts about the same subjects are boring and not helping at all, as everyone know what he is stating.

In sticking with the subject but I'm not following the back and forth argumentation...my advice is this:

If you think you might leave the game for any reason for any period of time, do as some have suggested.

1. Bank anything of true value to you that you would regret not having if you came back.

2. Start by paying on your account every OTHER month. That way your refresh rate stays current. I don't know about you but I wouldn't chance going with a longer period of time.

3. Bank everything that can be stacked and is of value. Reasons should be somewhat self-explanatory.

source: myself. I almost quit and decided to pay every other month and ended up coming back. I may have lost 6 months, but a small price considering everything I could have lost.

And idocing is easy the proper way...the hard way..looking at every sign..if u have runebooks made to skip through the landmass quicky in tram and felluca..myslef i dont bother with malas because i simply have not got the time to do it....and i only idoc 1 in 3 weeks because i actually do work shifts in real!!! so in the week i do idoc i try to make sure i do well... and LOL the reds...try and find me LOL..the reds!! yes i get killed a few times but hell i take my fair share of the stuff on the ground first!!!
